Just Adventure
Overall, The Messenger is an entertaining game with its flaws. It is a pleasant experience to observe the evolution of the palace through time. The interface is intuitive and smooth. The graphics, sound effects and music generally meet expectations. However, the game suffers greatly from the pixel hunting and the cumbersome inventory system. With more obvious and logical hotspots, an unlimited inventory, and perhaps a little more challenging puzzles The Messenger could have been a great game.

Game Over Online
So is The Messenger worthwhile? It has its share of problems, but its puzzles are reasonable, it will give you somewhere around 15-20 hours of gameplay, and you can get it for $20 or less. If you're looking around for an adventure to play, and if you haven't tried, say, The Longest Journey yet, then The Messenger is a reasonable choice.

Adventure Gamers
I was very impressed with the vast majority of elements in this game. There were no extraordinarily difficult tasks to complete, and the game embedded clues and necessary information smoothly into the environment making it easy to access and interpret. The Messenger is not an overly long game, taking the average adventure gamer approximately 20 hours to complete, but I found them to be quality hours, full of keen explorations and interesting challenges. There were a few things that could have been improved, but in all most of the elements combine to create a remarkably entertaining and educational game.

Despite of violent portions of the game I want to rate "Louvre" 70 % (good game, recommandable).
I enjoyed the logical puzzles and beautiful graphics very much. The game also offers very detailed historical information - people who are historical interested will enjoy this additional part very much, where you can click through the whole history of the Louvre.

ActionTrip
There, The Messenger is a game that you will surely find fun to play if you ever liked games like this, or if you ever liked the medieval age and Templar knights. Even if you didn't there's a nice opportunity for you to learn a lot on the subject, as the developers and their associates really took history for serious.

IGN
DreamCatcher's latest offering, The Messenger, is as hardcore as adventure gaming gets. There's little in the way of filler, and the exposition is kept in bite-sized pieces. It's all about full-on clicking. More combining of objects, more keys, more objects to find in locations -- it's the 1000 puzzle piece set for those used to the 250 puzzle sets, and except for that little part where hardcore adventure gamer is an oxymoron, this would be a godsend for those who felt that games like Escape From Monkey Island were just too straightforward.

Quandary
As I said, this game looks like the Dracula games, which is high praise. Though not appearing on the game box or manual, Arxel Tribe are credited with the 3D scenes and animations, and they are of a high quality. If you have an historical bent, you can be impressed by the recreated and changing Louvre - if not, you can simply enjoy poking around a big, graphically sumptuous castle. The puzzles and conundrums are fairly gentle - predominantly they involve using the right item (or items) in the right spot, or finding and deciphering the right manuscript or clue. You can die or be captured, and there are a few timed dilemmas. Perhaps by way of compensation for those who don't like things timed, there are no mazes or sliders or music puzzles - plus they give you a spandex suit.

UHS (Universal Hint System)
The Messenger is a historical adventure game that spans almost 700 years. The game takes place on the site of the Louvre Museum in Paris, and it provides the player with an incredible insight into various periods of the Louvre and the historical settings that accompanied those periods.

Tap-Repeatedly/Four Fat Chicks
The Messenger is not a bad game, it's just that there are design elements that make sections of gameplay laborious rather than fun. And with that in mind, there are quite a few more recent releases worth the time spent, such as Dracula Resurrection, from the same developer and publisher, as well as games that are similar in nature that have some elements most frustrating here worked out better, such as Traitor's Gate.

Schon mal des Nächtens im Louvre
gewesen? In The Final Curse haben Sie
endlich die Chance, sich das berühmte
Museum ganz in Ruhe anzuschauen.
Aber seien Sie gewarnt: Es gibt nichts
Öderes auf dieser Erde. Denn scheinbar
räumen ganz viele fleißige Hände nach
der Besuchszeit alles Sehenswerte weg.
The Final Curse ist auch nicht sehenswert,
und wegräumen sollten Sie ganz
schnell – von der Liste der guten Spiele.
