With 733MHz PIIIs available now and Gigahertz Athlons arriving next year, it would have been stupid for Microsoft to restrict itself unduly. After all, you don't see many Quake Arena addicts running P200-MMX machines. Once you've experienced Flight Simulator 2000 on a fast PC you'll immediately start saving.

Het is een beetje zoals met shoot-em-ups. Er is pakweg Quake, Half-Life en Unreal en er is de massa die heeft geprobeerd te zijn zoals die drie. In het land van de non-combat flightsim regeert Flight Simulator en daarmee is eigenlijk alles gezegd. Bill kan gerust zijn!

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 is de koning der flightsims, maar de game is absoluut professionele stuff. Dit spel eist veel, heel veel oefening en tevens een loodzware PC.

Tous les aspects graphiques de FS ont été remis au goût du jour et on retrouve la complexité si chère aux amateurs de la série. Si en plus, vous avez une grosse configuration, foncez.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 is without a doubt the most balanced of the three general aviation simulators currently available. It offers decent flight models, scenery, instrument panels, weather effects, and an impressive selection of airports and aircraft. If it weren’t for the lack of Air Traffic Control capabilities, I think FS2000 would be the outright best simulator to choose from but until that problem is fixed there is no clear leader. If you are looking to buy just one of the three available products, you will really need to weigh the pros and cons of each simulation to make your decision.

Mit dem Flight Simulator 2000 ist es Microsoft endlich gelungen, auch ein wenig Spiel in die Simulation zu bringen. Und die Concorde ist ein Flieger so recht nach meinen Geschmack: Pfeilschnell, aber extrem schwer zu kontrollieren. Fürs nächste Mal wünsche ich mir nur, daß Microsoft endlich mal einen Blick auf die eigenen Verkaufszahlen wirft. Spätestens dann müßte den Herren in Redmond doch mal aufgehen, daß der deutsche Markt mit seiner Bedeutung mehr Berücksichtigung auf der Landkarte verdient. Städte wie München, Köln oder Hamburg gehören besser nachgebildet. Denn eines sollte man niemals vergessen: Das Auge fliegt mit.

Still, as is often the case with flight sims, if you've got the horsepower to run Flight Simulator 2000 and are interested in the lighter aspects of flying in any way, shape, or form, you'll likely be very happy with what you get. Happy flying and watch out for those blimps!

Flight Simulator 2000 is a very nice advancement for this series. 3D acceleration has come a long way since the last version, and it shows. If you're looking for the most detailed and expansive simulation of both civilian and commercial aircraft available, this is it. Flight Unlimited III does a better job with the limited areas and craft that it concentrates on - so you're better off with that game if that's what you're looking for. But if you want to fly the big birds and have access to over 200,000 airports and the Concorde - you'll want to take a close look at this game. Bottom Line: Very detailed, very realistic. Graphics have been much improved since the last version but still don't compare with some of the more limited sims on the market. If you're interested in more than just civilian aircraft without all the minute detail of a limited-area sim, this is a great title.

Auch die jüngste Version des Microsoft Flight Simulators ist wieder die sicherste Wahl für jeden, der auf der Suche nach einer zivilen Flugsimulation ist. Ausnahmsweise richtet sich das Programm nicht nur an ausgebildete Piloten, erstmals werden auch Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene angesprochen. Und was mich persönlich am meisten überrascht hat: Mit dem Flight Simulator 2000 kann man richtig Spaß haben. Wer sich für die Fliegerei interessiert, erhält mit dem ausgezeichneten Tutorial mehrere Wochen echten Spielspaß. Die "Diplome", die man nach bestandener Prüfung erhält, sind zwar völlig unsinnig, als Motivationshilfe taugen sie aber dennoch.

Mit dem FS 2000 ist Microsoft wieder ein Glückswurf gelungen. Viele Details wie sich drehende Turbinenschaufeln oder das "reale" Wetter sorgen dafür, dass die Gipfelhöhe von Microsoft deutlich über der Konkurrenz liegt. Natürlich können Sie hier wie in den Vorgängern nur eins: Fliegen, was auf die Dauer doch ein wenig langweilig ist. Suchen Sie aber eine zivile Flugsimulation mit einem umfassenden Fluggebiet, dann kaufen Sie dieses Spiel.

Référence inégalable de la simulation de vol civil depuis ses premières moutures, Flight Simulator a toujours caracolé en tête des ventes, toutes catégories de jeux confondues. Son réalisme exacerbé et son architecture ouverte qui accepte des myriades d'extensions (avions, terrains, simulations de tour de contrôle, etc.) n'ont d'égale que sa gourmandise en ressources, chaque nouvelle version de Flight Simulator poussant le PC le plus puissant du moment dans ses derniers retranchements, voire au-delà.
