At the end of the day, International Football 2000 is a better game than EA's FA Premier League Stars, but the fact remains that it won't sell anywhere near the same number of copies. Those who do buy it will enjoy it though, and it would be interesting to see what Rage could do with a decent licence.

Non, Microsoft ne nous a pas pondu un FIFA Killer. Cependant, le côté arcade d'International Football 2000 est plaisant et arrivera à plaire à un large public moins exigeant que les passionnés. De plus, il est vraiment très bien fait et très beau.

Dabei haben mir besonders das realistische Spielgefühl und die unkomplizierte Bedienung gefallen. Ein Highlight sind die Torhüter, die schwierige Bälle realistisch abprallen lassen, was oft zu spannenden Situationen im Strafraum führt. Weniger zufrieden war ich mit dem spärlichen Drumherum und den lieblosen Menüs. Einsteiger und Zwischendurch-Fußballer dürfen also zugreifen, echte Fans sollten lieber auf Fifa 2000 warten.

MS International Soccer 2000 is definitely worth giving a kick around -- in a good way. If you are a fan of the game trying to break out from EA's hold on soccer titles, Rage Software's little baby just might be the right way to go. It's still suffering from growing pains, but given the right amount of feedback from the gaming community, some more funding, and a bit more time, the MS International Soccer series could very well turn out to be the first real competition to the EA FIFA powerhouse.

Het spel heeft zeker z'n pluspunten, met zijn knappe graphics, de strakke schoten op doel en de werkelijk schitterende goals die je kan maken! Aan de andere kant is er echter de zwakke AI van je doelman, de storende zijlijnbug en de problemen met het tackelen. Het spijtige is echter dat wanneer ze deze vrij vervelende, maar toch niet onoverkomelijke minpuntjes hadden weggewerkt, dit spel zeker een concurrent was geweest voor FIFA 99 (verdraaid, nu doe ik het toch weer...)! Maar niet getreurd, op naar FIFA 2000...

Met wat meer opties en een wat officiëler tintje, had International Football 2000 in mijn ogen net zo goed geweest als de console-versies. Helaas is dat niet geheel het geval, maar toch scoort deze footie een ruime voldoende.

Für Einsteiger ist Fußball Internatiomnal 2000 wie geschaffen. Die einfache Bedienung und die fairen Gegner gestatten auch Nichtsportlern schnelle Erfolgserlebnisse. Allerdings wird selbst ein Genre-Neuling nach kurzer Zeit bemerken, daß die automatische Umschaltung des kontrollierten Spielers viel zu schnell erfolgt und die spielerischen Mögkichkeiten auf dem Platz begrenzt sind. Sogar das wegen seiner Einfachheit gescholtene Bundesliga Stars 2000 hat spielerisch die Nase vorn.

What? Shootouts? That’s it, I’m out of here. I have moral qualms with determining the outcome of a soccer game in this manner. After all, we don’t determine a winner of tied baseball games with home run derbies do we? You can see how IS2000 stacks up anyway. Mediocre graphics and sound, coupled with decent play, and superb technical stats make this game a worthy player, but not quite an all-star.

Was International Soccer 2000 den Sprung in die internationale Spitze verwehrt, ist seine nur schwer zu erklärende Leblosigkeit. Trotz akzeptaler Präsentation und rasantem Ablauf kam bei mir selten Euphorie auf. Als schwerer Schnitzer erweisen sich auch die lahmen Verteidiger, die mit langen Bällen und beherzten Sprints oft zu überlaufen sind. Besonders Profis bemängeln zudem die Steuerung, die Aktionen oft leicht zeitversetzt überträgt.

If you are a casual sports gamers with a 20 burning a hole in your pocket, this title should suit you just fine.

I personally cannot believe that Microsoft would put their logo on this game. I cannot find a single good point to persuade you to buy this game, even for it's low price. If you are low on cash, then just wait until the next paycheck arrives. Microsoft International Soccer 2000 should be avoided at all costs, no matter how cheap.
