Just as you feel while playing Expendable that you are fighting alone against incredible hoards of antagonistic forces, I feel as if Rage is fighting a battle through the release of this title against the "me-too" forces of clone-like first-person shooters. While no single element of Expendable has not been done before, the clear and consistent arcade vision of the designers and the wonderful execution of each game component clearly set it apart from the pack. After becoming more and more hooked on this offering the longer I played it, I have to say it is one of only a handful of games that is absolutely not expendable on my desktop.

Un superbe jeu d'arcade, pour les fans d'action pure. Expendable n'est pas fatigant pour les neurones, mais il est en revanche superbe et un des meilleurs du genre sur PC !

Expendable feels sort of like your own shiny arcade machine at home, much better than all those other shoot 'em up machines you will find at the arcades and it doesn't cost you any money either (except the initial cost). Meaning you and your buddy can rattle away on your machine for as long as you want, shooting away, yelling for your buddy to keep his dirty hands off *your* power-ups and yelling out at those big end bosses to get stuffed and die already. I do hope they make an Arcade Machine out of this game somehow, it should be a smashing success compared to the current shoot 'em ups out there.

Stellenweise habe ich den Eindruck, Expendable bestehe überhaupt nur aus Explosionen. Ständig fliegt der halbe Level in die Luft, Horden von Aliens geben effektvoll den außerirdischen Löffel ab, und mein anfangs schwacher Standard-Laser steigert sich allmählich zur aberwitzigen Wahnsinnswaffe. Klar, wer bei Actionspielen so etwas wie eine spannende Story oder Komplexität erwartet, kommt - abgesehen von den Endgegnern - nicht auf seine Kosten. Aber dafür ist die bombastische Ballerei erfrischend unkompliziert und macht schlicht Spaß. Selbst wenn man sich die geniale Grafik wegdenkt, würde das Teil noch für Adrenalinschübe sorgen. Lediglich die knappen Zeitlimits können für Frust sorgen - aber wer das als sportliche Herausforderung nimmt, fühlt sich nach jedem geschafften Level doppelt gut.

If you're looking for depth, innovation or a game which requires even a hint of intelligence or tactical thinking, then my advice would be to look elsewhere. If, though, you're in the market for an intense, adrenaline fuelled no-holds-barred blastathon that requires quick reactions, an ever-itchy trigger finger and offers some truly delicious eye candy, then Expendable will definitely be your bucket of oysters.

Wer keine übertriebenen Erwartungen an Komplexität hat, sein Hirn gerne auf Sparflamme schaltet und dafür Finger und Augen einen Spaß gönnt, für den ist Expendable exakt die richtige Hausnummer.

Al bij al vind ik het bijzonder spijtig dat een spel met een knaller van een grafische engine moet ten onder gaan aan een ergerlijke besturing.

Det finns stunder av briljans (som när du transporteras in i ett främmande skepp och det förvandlas till en tredjepersonsversion av favoriten Phobia) men annars smäller faktiskt spelet inte särskilt högt.

Expendable is a nice diversion for a while. The decent but eclectic graphics and funky, extremely combustible and awe-inspiring sound make it a game of great first impressions. The wave after wave of alien hordes will undoubtedly appeal to hardcore shoot-em-up fans the world over; however, if you delve a bit deeper you may find that the irritating controls and monotonous gameplay, combined with no save feature, makes this a game to pick up and play in small doses.
