Missile Command

Missile Command has always been a classic arcade title. Hasbro Interactive has effectively recreated the original game in it’s classic mode, and the ultimate mode offers a unique twist on the original concept. The gameplay is nothing revolutionary. It's still very simple and certainly won’t provide hours upon hours of fun. Missile Command is simply a quick arcade fix and in that respect, it does a fine job.

I managed to get quite a lot of play out of Missile Command, but most of my time was spent with the classic mode. While its obvious that Hasbro put a lot of work into this remake's look and feel (both of which are great), the ridiculous end bosses left me so frustrated that it became a real chore to work my way through the game. If you're a huge Missile Command fan, I recommend picking this title up just to get your chance to play a really good re-release on your PC. For those looking for a brand new play experience, your time and money may be better spent elsewhere.

Nach einer kurzen Eingewöhnungphase ist das sehr schwere Spiel nur noch halb so knifflig, denn dann haben Sie den Dreh raus, eine Abfangrakete immer leicht vor dem Angreifer zu platzieren. Ein netter Gimmick ist das Ultimative Spiel, welches die klassische Formel behutsam mit Radar und minimal scrollbarem Bildschirm erweitert. Die Hintergründe sind nett gemalt, die Musik haut rein - ein ideales Spiel für Zwischendurch. Erwarten Sie allerdings nicht zu viel - wer das Spielhallen-Original nicht mehr kennt, wird sich schon nach kurzer Zeit kopfschüttelnd abwenden.

Она более не позволит просто так совершить марш-бросок, подобный былому. Нынешняя игра примитивна до безумия и безумна до примитивности одновременно. В корне нелогична, как и любая аркада. Зато от нее не отнимешь ее красоты (как говорится — чем богаты, тем и рады). Играть или нет — решать вам. Но учтите, что хороши и более-менее интересны в ней только графика и звук. А ради этих вещей лучше купить видеокассету. Или диск, на крайний случай.

For sure the graphically updated 'Classic' game looks nice and bright, but the Orwellian paranoia - the threat of Armageddon - is what made Missile Command such a poignant game. Now it's just a faceless, cartoon, coffee-break blaster, albeit a good one.
