But these obviously minor peeves shouldn't stop you from shelling out the money. If you're a strategy player, MissionForce: Cyberstorm is a must-own.

MissionForce CyberStorm is a truly pleasant surprise. Sierra has taken a basic, turn-based strategy game, added some beautiful graphics, fantastic sound, and great network play, and set it into their expansive Earthsiege universe. The result is amazingly addictive. Even bogged down by a stomach flu and no sleep, I found myself crawling back to my desk day after day to continue my war against the evil Cybrids.

Overall, this game is easy to learn and play, and is an interesting concept for a strategy game. I give it an 85 -- it was more than I expected and was a really nicely realized concept.

Mission Force heeft me heel goed kunnen bekoren. Het mag dan wel een turn-based spel zijn, op de speelbaarheid heeft dit weinig effect. Het enig minpuntje is dat je na verloop van tijd de nieuwe missies als repetitief gaat ervaren, daar er niet echt veel variatie in zit.

CyberStorm ist eines der aufregendsten Hexagon-Strategiespiele der letzten Monate und muß sich auf keinen Fall hinter einem Fantasy General verstecken, wenngleich es vor allem hinsichtlich der Missionen Defizite gibt. Letzten Endes läuft nämlich (fast) jeder Einsatz trotz unterschiedlichster Vorgaben auf ein Vernichte-sämtliche-Gegner hinaus.

In all, MissionForce: Cyberstorm is a winner. Combat is fast and brutal, for that visceral satisfaction. You'll come to know and love (well�) your bioderms, and when one of your faves bites the dust, it hurts! The pace of building your forces is about right: you never have quite enough cash, so you'll have to make some tough decisions. Better weapons for your #1 bioderm, or better armor for the new kid? When you tire of the campaign, you can generate random missions, or play against your friends (modem, IPX and TCP/IP are supported). If you're a detail freak/totally hard-core strategy gamer with no time for light fare, Cyberstorm may not satisfy. But as a beer and pretzels game with that compelling "just one more mission" feel, it excels.

Ich hatten diesen Monat schon Sorgen, ob neben diversen Krücken noch ein vernünftigtes Strategiespiel auftauchen würde. Cyberstorm war da die Rettung in der Not, die für alle Unbill entschädigte. Die vielen Waffen, Terrainformen und Planeten-Sonderregeln wirken sich merklich aus, ein schlecht designter oder vorwitziger HERC wird von den Cybrids gnadenlos vernichtet.

Unfortunately, there is so much more that Cyberstorm could have been. I applaud Sierra for implementing DirectX video technology into the game. More cinema scenes and more varied missions along with a comprehensible storyline would have been great. The ability to build units in battle mode and the addition of music, enhanced sounds, and a level editor would be welcome additions to the game. MissionForce : Cyberstorm has created a niche in gaming which I hope will be expanded greater in the future.

Cyberstorm är klart värt att kolla upp för alla mechfrälsta i landet. Det är dock inget vidare ös i spelet, och är man bara ute efter ett bra strategispel vet du vad du ska skaffa istället - Red Alert.
