Monster Truck Madness

Monster Truck Madness is a great game. Microsoft has a winner here if people can get over the fact that it is not a spreadsheet or word processor program. The ability to go off-road and blaze your own trail makes it all the more fun. Although I only know of a few of the trucks, there are plenty to choose from. The only down side is that there are not enough tracks, and the drag race is just too constricted. These are little things that keep this game from the elite status, but there are still hours of fun to be had. This game is a definite picker-upper and gets a deserving 88.

At man kan spille mod sine venner over modem eller netværk, er ligeledes genialt morsomt, vel at mærke hvis vennerne har det rigtige udstyr. Til sidst er der kun én ting at sige: Godt gået, Microsoft!

Some of the negative aspects of this game are those inherent in all driving games. Realism is always compromised by the lack of a steering wheel and gas pedals. Racing games are inherently short and lack the overall depth that say, a roleplaying or even a flight simulator might have. Yet, this game is a gem, a little piece of American white trash entertainment that even Einstein might have enjoyed between lectures and his musings on relativity. Someone pass me a Bud Lite!

Monster Truck Madness leverer spænding og morskab i én pakke, og er et rigtigt fornøjeligt spil. Det er blot endnu et bevis på at Microsoft godt kan lave spil til dét spilmarked, de nu pludselig tager meget alvorligt.

Om ursprungsidén med att tillverka absurda monsterbilar var att göra det här spelet, då var idén kanske inte helt fel ändå.

Mit Monster Truck Madness ist es Microsoft gelungen, eine wirklich neue Spielidee zu präsentieren. Auch grafisch gehört das Spiel zur Oberklasse, ob die Monster Trucks jedoch wirklich nur so wenig Fahrgefühl vermitteln wie diese Simulation es vermag, läßt sich leider schwer überprüfen. Der eigentliche Schwachpunkt des Spiels ist die Notwendigkeit seinen PC mit modernster Hardware vollzustopfen.

MTM performs like the vehicles it showcases - larger than life, lots of action, and big fun. And although I still don't plan on attending an actual Monster Truck event, pretending to take the wheel of one of these babies was downright entertaining. Anyone got a beer?

Backed by a comprehensive online manual and video clips of major Monster Truck events, Microsoft has created a well-rounded, solid, not-quite-electrifying arcade racer. You'll need to provide the tobacco and Budweiser cap.

With a lot more work, Monster Truck Madness would still be a weak game. You race about a track. With weak physics, good (not great) graphics technology and uninspired gameplay, this game comes in last as I-76, POD and Carmageddon race past. The weak sounds, bad music and clunky interface don't help the situation, either. At it's best, Monster Truck Madness is briefly entertaining, but at its worst this game is silly, inane and boring.

Monster Truck Madness ist keine gute Werbung für schnelle 3D-Spiele unter Windows 95. Denn so toll ist die Grafik nicht, die meinen Rechner ins Röcheln bringt. Okay, Bigfoot-Fans werden all ihre Lieblinge wiederfinden, und vor allem die Rundkursrennen sind besonders mit mehreren menschlichen Mitspielern sehr spaßig. Dazu wurde die Fahrphysik sehr akkurat umgesetzt, und auch die CD-Musik kann überzeugen. Dennoch bin ich nicht bereit, für eine durchschnittliche Polygongrafik mit ein paar hübschen Texturen eine sündhaft teure 3D-Beschleunigerkarte zu kaufen.
