I have never driven a motorcycle on my own, and I am not a motor cross fan. Regardless, the graphics and action of this game appealed to me. I found myself enthralled with this game for hours on end. The game play is very addictive.95

Motocross Madness 2 represents a violation of all the principles of the free-market business system in which we live: without direct competition, products are supposed to lose their incentive to develop any significant innovation. Well, there is no noticeable competition here, yet a great game just seems to get better and better. This sequel’s gameplay, interface, graphics, and sound are just about as good as they could be. Without the presence of any truly revolutionary new feature, this has the feel of a really polished product, right down to barely noticeable details like the creative and entertaining installation process and the snazzy icon. Microsoft indeed has hands-down the definitive dirt bike racing series, and there is nobody at all in its rear view mirror.

Despite sonic minor flaws and a career mode that could use a makeover, MOTOCROSS MADNESS 2 is just about the most fun you’ll ever have with a computer game. Whether you’re memorizing the Supercross tracks and finding the best possible lines, or just exploring the vast Baja and Enduro worlds and all of the little secrets they hold, you’ll get a lot of replay value out of this game. Expect to see MCM2 on more than one list of nominees for Racing Game of the Year.

Like I have just detailed, I love this game, and recommend it to anyone who even likes motocross just a TINY bit! This game is sure to get you addicted! Just remember, you have to have a Direct3D compatible 3-D Accelerator card (not FULL 3D) to get all you can out of this game.

Motocross Madness 2 isn't the most realistic motorcycle simulation you can buy, but it's definitely one of the most enjoyable. The game's got a little something for everyone - and with a modest sticker price of around $35, it's also one that just about anyone can afford. If your system can run it, you'd do well to head out to grab a copy. You won't be sorry you did.

Motocross Madness 2 is a big improvement on the original game - more game modes, more tracks, better tracks, better graphics and better sound. It's still fun and simple to play but those with the inclination can spend the time to master it. Everything from measuring your jumps to learning the best turns in a situation can make a world of difference in your play. MCM2 is fun enough for the mainstream gamer but has enough skill and challenge involved to gather a hardcore following.

Raserherz, was willst du mehr?

If you are a first timer to Motocross Madness then you will fall in love with the game and be playing until the wee hours of the morning. If you’re a return customer you will be overcome with joy with all the new little tweaks to the graphics and tracks. But you will bow down and thank the Moto gods when you see the new Enduro section that has you racing in some very interesting places and using some cool objects to get major air. All in all it is a strong second showing for the Motocross Madness family, so we will give it a score of 86/100. It would have scored higher but I was a little disappointed with uniforms for the riders and the bike tweak section seemed a little flat to me. So what are you waiting for? Grab some cash, get the game, and come home and get muddy.

So, MM2 is much like its predecessor - a tough arcade racer, offering plenty of thrills and spills and a fair old challenge too. It's a lot of fun and exceptionally easy on the eye but the fact that two of the four main race modes aren't that well-suited to the basic engine does weaken the overall package. Don't get me wrong, it is polished and playable, and unquestionably a very good game - it's just that it falls short of the standard of greatness that Microsoft set for their Madness franchise with Midtown.

The reason why I hadn't written a single word is Microsoft's newly born game Motocross Madness 2 (inventing original titles i really hard :). This game blows you right off yer feet from the instant you start the first event. Everything on this title is smooth, from the installation screen to the ingame trees. And no, Microsoft didn't give me a very high fee to make a positive review (sigh) on this title.

Motocross Madness 2 is a tremendous laugh, if exceedingly tough at times for an arcade game. The circuit races could be a little more forgiving on the human player, and the AI of the CPU players could do with some tweaking to ensure that they don't manage to land unfeasibly difficult jumps every single time. To say that the game couldn't have been better would be to lie - it's not that much of a progression from the original to be truly outstanding, but it's definitely a huge leap in the right direction, particularly in regards to the multiplayer side of things.

As it stands, Motocross Madness 2 is a high quality racing game for the Motocross fan. People who like regular car racing games should also give this title a try -- they may just be surprised by the gameplay and sport of motocross racing!

Gamer's Pulse (Jun 05, 2000)
So there you have it. Motocross Madness 2 offers some fairly intense, and highly challenging, racing action. With a wide variety of events, and a career mode encompassing them all, there is definitely some good replay value to this game. The graphics are good, even on systems like mine, which are "graphics card challenged." Music would have been nice; a distraction for the player, to take his ears away from the engine drone, but this is easily fixed by popping in our own CDs. Overall, a solid racing game… at the Gamer’s Pulse motocross arena this weekend on Sunday, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! (sorry, I couldn't resist doing it one last time).

The true strength of this game is that it is very much like a console title, in that it is a natural fit to have a bunch of people crowd around your PC to compete. Few PC games do that. But Motorcross Madness 2 will have you and a group of your closest shmack-talkin friends yelling such prized phrases as “Damn! That’s gotta hurt!” and “OOOuch! He shouldn’t have a head right now.” Or the best one “He’d be so dead.” No, really? I don’t see why you can’t survive an 80-mile an hour airborne impact with a bus? Motocross Madness earns 3 1/2 GiN Gems. It offers group fun, something that few computer games can, as long as you have enough hardware to get the most of it.

We really wanted to like Motocross Madness 2, and in fact, we do. It's just that we wanted to like it more. It's a great-looking game, and the stunt and multiplayer features are enough to have us coming back. It's just that it lacks a truly compelling single-player mode, and game slowdowns required us to play the game at 640x480 in order to achieve some fluidity.
