MVP Baseball 2003 is a terrific, joyful game that is amazing to look at, a delight to listen to and exceptionally fun to play. The player interface is so much easier to navigate through, making this game a nice friendly improvement over previous EASports MLB titles. This is a game that PC baseball fans should enjoy.
Armchair Empire, The
Overall, MVP Baseball 2003 is a solid addition to the EA Sports line. Normally I'm not big on sports games, but I picked up MVP Baseball 2003 with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised – a must-own for MLB fans.
MVP Baseball 2003
trifft. Zudem zeigt ein nützliches
Fenster, welche Bases besetzt
sind und wo sich die Läufer
befinden. Fernsehreife Präsentation,
und der gute Kommentator
verdienen ein Sonderlob.
Like any rookie phenom, no matter how good they play, they're still prone to making rookie mistakes. The great thing about MVP is, even with those mistakes, it's still one of the best baseball titles to hit the market and manages to finish a strong second to High Heat. MVP's pitcher/batter interface alone makes for thrilling head-to-head play as wannabe hurlers finally need skill to throw strikes, while the Franchise mode will have you simulating games for nights-on-end as you try to find the right combination of players and salaries to bring a title to your hometown.
But lulls in the action seem few and far between in MVP Baseball 2003. EA has created one of the most enjoyable arcade-style baseball games of the year, and even though it could use some refinement, MVP Baseball 2003 is a great first step that bodes well for the future of the new series.
MVP Baseball 2003 has several obvious flaws and missing features -- such as the lack of an in-game player editor or a fantasy draft option -- but the prospect of what future versions of the series could be should make any baseball gamer extremely happy and anxious. The game is a handful of important fixes away from being excellent, but we'll have to wait until next year to see if EA Sports is fully committed to making MVP Baseball an A-list game.
Computer Gaming World (CGW)
Flawed in some areas and strong in others, MVP Baseball remains a promising new start for EA Sports in the realm of digital baseball. The unbelievable look combined with the courageous rethinking of the pitcher- batter showdown elevates it to the previous level of 3DO’s High Heal series. With the right tweaks, you can expect a true fall classic from next year’s version.
