I would recommend any and all of the titles in this series to adventure gamers everywhere. Of the lot, Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is one of the best. I am pleased that Herinteractive acquired the rights to produce these games and that there are more to come. I think that if you want the gaming equivalent of slipping into your favorite PJ’s and coziest chair for an engaging and fun mental diversion - you can’t do wrong with Nancy Drew in general and Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake in specific. So with that in mind - this reviewer gives Ghost Dogs an A grade.
A great adventure game that will require thought and perseverance to finish. The story is exciting and offers a little spookiness in the beginning; in fact, some younger players may be scared at first, which parents should be aware of. Whether your kids are Nancy Drew fans or not, this game will interest most teens and many adults, as well.
This point and click adventure is game number 7 for Her Interactive. Released in 2002, it is much better than the other 6 were as far as graphics go for the time period. Voice acting was better than average, again for this time period. The game has a good story and is very interesting and exciting. The inventory puzzles work well with no illogical usage. I feel the older Her Interactive games are more aimed at all age groups rather than just the younger age group. I think if you like Adventure games then this one is very worthwhile to play. I for one have enjoyed it very much. I gave this game a B. It has a few problems, but it is a decent game.
Nonetheless, Nancy Drew: Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is fun and challenging. While younger gamers may find some of the puzzles a bit difficult, and the ghost dogs a touch scary, fans of Nancy Drew mysteries should enjoy the game immensely. Just be prepared for a long download before you begin sleuthing around Moon Lake.
Ghost Dogs isn't a bad little game and deserves the FFC thumb up! It's the perfect game for a beginner just starting out or an experienced adventurer looking for a mystery that isn't too tough on those "little grey cells." For me, Ghost Dogs was reminiscent of reading one of the novels, only with lots of pretty pictures. I was a voracious reader of Nancy Drew books as a kid. From those books I grew to love Christie, Chandler, and Grafton, to name just a few. I think of the Nancy Drew games in the same vein—a springboard to bigger and better games. So, grab your magnifying glass and PDA and come on out to Moon Lake for a spell. Just don't let the dogs catch you wandering about after dark!
Nancy is now like an old friend in our house. Dependable, familiar, always nice to see. She visited again recently and 13 year old Emily immediately whisked her away to the bedroom. Her own impression of Nancy's stay follows.
Nancy Drew is at it again in HerInteractive’s “Nancy Drew and the Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake.” It’s the very best title the series has ever had, but it’s hardly the best game in the series.
The Nancy Drew games continue to be an excellent diversion, providing at least twelve solid hours of entertaining gameplay that can be enjoyed by anyone that calls themselves an adventure gamer. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is no exception, incorporating all the positive aspects of the previous games while making some excellent improvements. While not incredibly challenging, the Nancy Drew adventures are a fun way to pass the time, and I anxiously await the release of the eighth installment, The Haunted Carousel, later in 2003!
