It used to be with racing simulations that only the most dedicated enjoyed themselves because it took so long to get good enough to have fun. But NASCAR Racing 3 is a gem and you should have no trouble having a good time with it.

Overall, this game is very, very cool. If you have yet to buy a NASCAR simulation for your PC, make sure to pick this up. This is definitely the best stock car game for the PC on the et. But, if you do have a copy of NASCAR 2, I would wait until the next generation of NASCAR Racing. The differences between NASCAR 2 and 3 are small, and not worth spending hard-earned cash.

NASCAR Racing 3 keeps up the standard of excellence that Papyrus set years ago with their simulations. They have topped their NASCAR 2 game in more than a few ways and included more options than ever before. The physics engine is an evolutionary step beyond that found in previous versions of their NASCAR games, it still doesn't touch what they did in Grand Prix Legends. Bottom Line: Excellent graphics, including more accelerated effects than before and support for much higher resolutions. The physics model may not be perfect, but is more advanced than previous games in the series. We have come to expect excellence from Papyrus' racing simulations, and NASCAR 3 is no exception.

I must admit to not having played any of the previous NASCAR games, but from what I’ve seen in this version, I’ve become a fan. I compare the realism in this game to that of Superbike, which I reviewed a few months back. In that review I said it was a great simulation racing game and the same holds true here. You have crisp, clean graphics, fun gameplay, and tons of tracks. What more could you ask for in a racing game? So on that note gentle reader, I give NASCAR Racing 3 a score of 85/100. Nascar Racing 3 ist, wie seine Vorgänger auch, wieder die realistischste und beste Simulation des Nascar-Zirkus. Fahrphysik, Gegnerverhalten und Schadensmodell sind ohne Fehl und Tadel. Mich langweilen allerdings die Rasereien im Kreis trotz der häufigen Karambolagen auf die Dauer, ich fühle mich bei Grand Prix 2 oder Racing Simulation 2 besser aufgehoben. Nascar-Fans dürfen unbesehen zugreifen. Liegt Ihnen, wie mir, mehr die Streckenführung der Formel 1, sollten Sie Nascar Racing 3 meiden.

had Papyrus been able to implement a more user-friendly version of its next-generation CPL physics engine into NASCAR 3, the entire franchise would likely have jumped out into an unassailable lead over the rest of the sim racing pack. As it is, they are still very much in the race - but the competition is actually beginning to edge ahead of them.

So bleiben nur noch die eingefleischten Nascar-Fans und Simulationspuristen übrig - die aber bekommen genau das, wonach sie suchen: eine astreine Simulation, die fahrerisches Können und Konzentration knallhart auf die Probe stellt.

The driving experience is top drawer, with solid driver AI. Graphically NASCAR 3 is fine, with high res texture maps and smooth motion - but there's nothing here that hasn't been done before. If you own NASCAR Revolution then consider this more a tweak than a whole new experience, but it's still a whole lot better than the recent NASCAR Road Racing.

Как видите, мой прогноз оправдался, рядовой игрок смог разобраться во всех тонкостях новой игры и весьма квалифицированно ее оценил. Причем, поскольку он не заинтересован в ее рекламе, на его слова можно полностью положиться. Ну а то, что он ничего не сказал о том, как родилась задумка сделать данную игру, кто консультировал разработчиков, какие фирмы и организации дали разрешение использовать их торговые марки, думается, никого особо не огорчает.

"Zurück zu den Wurzeln", dachte man sich bei Papyrus, als ein Nachfolger zu NASCAR Racing 1999 gesucht wurde. Die dort eingeführten Pick-Ups wurden ebenso gestrichen wie die glaubwürdige Fahrphysik. An einen Ersatz in Form neuer Strecken oder Fahrzeuge wurde nicht gedacht - womit sich die Featureliste wie die des drei Jahre alten NASCAR Racing 2 liest: 28 Strecken, 8.975 Rennrunden, 61 Links- und neun Rechtskurven. Die Grafikengine wurde unverändert übernommen, wie auch die KI. An verunfallten Fahrzeugen wagen sich die computergesteuerten Gegner nicht vorbei und warten brav bis das Wrack nach einer voreingestellten Zeit verschwindet.

Enfin, pour en terminer avec les problèmes, signalons du mauvais clipping : il m'est arrivé de voir deux voitures passer l'une dans l'autre. Ca fait pas sérieux tout ça, on ne peut pas féliciter les développeurs à ce niveau là. Outre ces défauts, la réalisation est médiocre. Les graphismes ne sont vraiment pas très beaux, le jeu est lent et rame, le son est peu convaincant. La jouabilité est poussive. Décidément, Nascar 3 n'a rien pour plaire, la boîte trouvera une place de choix au rayon des grosses déceptions.
