Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy turned out to be a throwback to the old adventure games I loved playing when I was a teenager. This game is rated Teen, but it’s only due to mild blood and violent references made in the game - there is no actual graphic violence shown in the game. I can easily recommend this game, especially to young females since Madeleine is an excellent role model.

I finished the game in about 12 hours, but as always, play time will depend on how long it takes to solve some of the puzzles. Throughout that time I was both pleased and impressed, as Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy is a solid game with an intriguing story and fun, well-integrated puzzles. For someone like me who loves the past, it was a fascinating escape into another time, offering a rare glimpse of one of history’s most notable characters, if only in a secondary role. Even if you’re not as intrigued with history as I am, the investigation makes for an entertaining adventure in its own right, and I’ll make a prediction myself that most adventure gamers will enjoy the experience.

So is Nostradamus worth the purchase? Well, it's a tough game that can keep you busy for a while. If you don't mind the amount of tedium that goes along with that, then look into it. The story is interesting enough, but you could easily get frustrated at the game.

In the end, I think what's missing has to do either with the lack of nuanced, unconventional villains -- or perhaps with Madeleine herself. Our heroine makes a wonderful Renaissance sleuth and the game expertly tests and reveals her abilities. But Madeleine's personality doesn't seem to develop in any way during the course of the adventure. Is it possible to have the power to change your world and yet not be affected by the process? I'd like to see more of Madeleine in other games, and I'd like to see how her experiences have changed her.

Game Over Online (Dec 22, 2008)
But otherwise, Nostradamus is a pleasant adventure. It’s a little short and a little easy, but the puzzles are well laid out and they make sense, and the interface makes it easy to navigate your way through the game. Plus, you’ll probably learn some things about astrology and France (just not Nostradamus) when you play. Given some of the dogs I’ve reviewed lately, Nostradamus, even with the mediocre score I’m giving it, stands out from the pack, and it’s a reasonable purchase during this holiday season.
IGN (Oct 20, 2008)
You will learn at least a little about astrology by playing this game. If that doesn't interest you, you may be annoyed, but then you are probably not the type inclined to pick up Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy in the first place, no matter how detailed the environments are or how much you love immersing yourself in puzzle hell.
GameStar (Germany) (Nov 28, 2007)

It's very difficult to assign a game like Nostradamus without calling some sort of personal bias into play. I didn't particularly enjoy it more than I would a more interactive adventure, and my desire to reach for some sort of walkthrough (although I didn’t) sprang up more than once. For fans of the genre who love to have their brain teased as well as hung up for hours however, this is to be expected, and you could do much worse than what the developers of this game have come up with here; a genuinely challenging, if a bit inclusive adventure.
Game Watcher (Oct 07, 2008)
If you’re a fan of adventure titles, then you’ve probably already bought Nostradamus. For all its accomplishments it must be said that they’re standard inclusions. A gamer in the twenty-first century expects an involving story; a fluid graphics engine and strong gameplay. It’s simple regurgitation, but in a new setting with some tweaks. There’s nothing off about The Last Prophecy, just nothing to scream from the heavens about.
Gameslave UK (Sep 20, 2008)
Overall, Nostradamus is a mix of good and bad. In a genre that features game after game which suffer fatal flaws, it has the story, the graphics and the style to make an entertaining, if a little too complicated and occasionally buggy, murder mystery. One to buy when you have some time on your hands (or a massive interest in astronomy.)
GameZone (Oct 23, 2008)
Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy does do some things right in terms of the graphics and sound quality. The overall concept isn’t that bad either, but some of the finer points such as the tasks that need completed could’ve definitely been dulled down a bit. This game is, however, an absolute must for any astrology buff!
Avid Gamer (Aug 23, 2008)
Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy is for the gamer that has played 100 similar titles and wants another that’ll provide the same old. Challenging, oddly involving and slightly addictive, it’s a game for the genre enthusiast. It’s on the line of being cast as outdated and manages to provide a passable experience. Nothing special.
Level (Oct 31, 2008)
AceGamez (Oct, 2008)
Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy is enjoyable but flawed; it's too short, with little reason to play it again (beyond seeking a higher score), the game world isn't lively or well populated enough to be convincing and the puzzles are of mixed quality, making it a pretty standard point-and-click game. Pulling no punches and sticking to a tried and tested formula can still produce a surprisingly enjoyable game, but the few new additions like the inventory system fail to raise the game above the competition. With the lack of anything new and often complex puzzles, I decree that this is one for dedicated adventure game players only - newcomers to the genre will quickly find themselves out of their depth.
Thunderbolt Games (Oct 20, 2008)
Nostradamus certainly isn’t a bad game but it’s a title filled with a number of half victories. The story, albeit brief, is involving but also stiffly delivered. Half of the puzzles are well designed, while the other half serves little purpose other than testing your patience. You’ll also wander around Provence as both yourself and your brother, but you’ll discover there really isn’t much point to it all. If you have to solve the Last Prophecy then by all means go for it, but most players will find themselves happier leaving Nostradamus to rest in peace.
gameZine (UK) (Aug 29, 2008)
So, what we have here is a solid if unspectacular point-and-clicked, sprinkled with astrological nonsense and overwhelmed by Cadfael-esque herbs and spices. It isn’t going to break any sales records or get the heart pumping with exciting action sequences, but for a lazy, relaxed game experience, it could be worse.

None will be as disappointed as I, the great Nostradamus, first suffering the indignity of several of my prophecies not turning out how everyone thought they would, then ending up with my name on this frigging drivel. The Last Prophecy? I bloody well hope so…
To sum up, Nostradamus is a game with a fairly average story, repulsive gameplay, some impossible to solve puzzles, poor graphics and some fairly bad voice acting. In the game's defence, I didn't find any obvious glitches, which have been ominous in the other lighthouse games I've played, and if you can look past the gameplay, it's got some fairly good murder mystery elements to be found. Unfortunately, there was not enough good for me to be able to look past the bad, and I found the game generally boring and frustrating. I would advise you to avoid this one unless you desperately need to play an adventure game and can't find anything else, in which case, try the demo first. There are much better adventure games to be had.
