DescriptionOceanis is a managerial simulation game where the player takes control of a neglected aquarium that needs restoration. The main objective is to raise the aquarium's star rating all the way up to five. To do so the player has to balance income with expenses, add new areas and buy display tanks and fill them with sea life. The rating updates every day and is based on the customer feedback given by visitors. When starting out only a few areas of the aquarium building is open but by spending money more can be opened. Each has a few upgrades that the player can acquire and improve that affect the visitors' feedback. Among the areas that can be opened are learning centres, cafeterias, gift shops, theatres and a few more.
In the centre of the building lies the exhibit hall where the fish tanks are located. When starting out there is only one available but up to twelve tanks in various sizes can be built. The more tanks built the more visitors will be attracted to the aquarium. For each tank the player is free to add any fishes, corals, plants, rocks or decors that he can afford or has access to but it's important not to add too much since the water conditions might suffer and the fish might get sick, something that's not appreciated by the visitors. To get access to more types of marine life to add to the aquarium the player can choose to go on expeditions to different diving locations around the world. These cost money and some also require a research area being open with some upgrades. Each expedition consists a number of dives where the player can collect a certain number of objects depending on the research that has been done.
