OpenArena is a free, community-developed first-person shooter, similar to Quake III: Arena as it is based on the source code of the game along with the ioquake3 engine, and it is licensed under the GNU GPL version 2, meaning users can change or modify models, maps and sounds and later distribute their modifications. The gameplay is fairly reminiscent of Quake III: Arena - players fight in arenas against bots or real people through the Internet or LAN.

New content is added gradually, and some of the game modes included are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tournament, Capture the Flag, Elimination, CTF Elimination, Last Man Standing and Double Domination.
