Pacific Storm is a remarkable offering for armchair commanders who enjoy micromanaging all aspects of war. The only real disappointment I had with the game was the mismatched background music. Action-oriented players should find enough variety with the numerous first-person combat options to help offset the somewhat-tedious micromanagement required during lengthy campaigns. Regardless, both of the highly configurable single- and multiplayer segments will provide a superior level of replay value for the money.
Pacific Storm is a very enjoyable game, despite its initial learning curve and occasional game crashes. The game hits the bulls-eye with a wide range of planes you can fly, the quick mission generator, and the vast scope of the tactical campaign mode. There is such a wide range of possibilities of gameplay; an interested player will be able to wring a lot of repeat play from Pacific Storm.
Pacific Storm is an entirely original experience. Though there are a number of good games that simulate either the operational or tactical aspects of the war, none have combined the two into the complete experience you get with Pacific Storm. At one moment you'll be directing the production and movement of fleets, the next you'll be jumping into the cockpit of a lone torpedo bomber as it skims towards a massive enemy battleship.
In the end, Pacific Storm is not the best of three genres put together, but it's certainly not the worst. The game provides solid tactical gameplay and air/ship simulation, but the gameplay can be tough - especially for new gamers. The interface can get really cluttered and detract from the battles, too. Want to command your fleet, but also participate in the battles your fleet will fight? Pacific Storm allows you to do that. If you're looking for a game which will provide a challenge and do some things you haven't seen before, give Pacific Storm a try.
For a MSRP of about 30 bucks it is well worth it. There is a lot to this game and with the ability to play both strategy and arcade styles of play, it will sure have an added shelf life despite not being able to play online.

Whether you like the feel of strategic buildup and planning for the big war or as tactician in battles Pacific Storm has enough variety that it sets itself apart from previous strategy games. Although not exceptional this strategy game does set itself apart enough to warrant a look by strategy gamers.
There’s a lot going on in Pacific Storm, so much so that it might only appeal to the grognards of strategic gaming. There’s some solid strategy tucked behind the overpowering interface and lackluster graphics, but a few serious errors, clunky controls, and some really poor audio in the form of bad music and repetitive speech make Pacific Storm a frustrating experience overall.
Ambition only gets you so far. While Lesta Studio deserves credit for tackling such a large-scale sim, all of the micromanagement tasks and bugs send Pacific Storm to the bottom of the sea. This is one of those games that bites off more than it can chew.
