Painkiller: Black Edition is the first game to have an eSports organization branded on a game box. The US version mentions "CPL contest upgrades" and the Spanish version has the World Tour logo on the case. PK was chosen as the main duel game for the $1,000,000 2005 CPL World Tour. People Can Fly developed specific enhancements for the tournament and mappers from Ritual Entertainment designed new maps.
