Panzer Elite

Panzer Elite just about has it all. A more capable rendering engine would have brought it precariously close to perfection, but as it is, it's excellent in nearly every way.

This game garnered a GiN Gem rating of four and one half Gems as it is head and shoulders above what I have played to date in the world of tank simulations. It is well worth the investment of time and energy to become proficient at, and will provide many hours of enjoyment for those that want to get inside a tank and take on the enemy. Is there something better out there? Not yet, but you never know in this market! For now, Panzer Elite is king.

Panzer Elite is een must voor iedere liefhebber van tanks en is op zijn minst een aanrader te noemen voor wie wil kennismaken met het genre. Het spel ademt de sfeer van de Tweede Wereldoorlog uit en is op een gepaste manier 'moeilijk' om onder de knie te krijgen. Een uitdaging voor meer dan enkel de tankliefhebbers onder ons.

Profis freuen sich vor allem über die realistischen Schadensmodelle der Blechbüchsen, die unzähligen Einheitentypen und die historisch weitgehend korrekten Schlachten. Einsteiger bekommen ohne lange Einarbeitungszeit spannende Einsätze. Im Gegensatz zu Rüdiger gefällt mir die Steuerung bei M1 Tank Platoon 2 allerdings besser: Ich will meine Truppen lieber auf einer übersichtlichen 2D-Karte in Ruhe in Position bringen, doch bei Panzer Elite regiert mehr die Action als die Taktik.

Panzer Elite is a tremendous step forward in the evolution of tank combat games. We had an incredible time with it and enjoyed all its options for realism. However, if you're not so inclined, remember that they are just options and can be toggled off. World War II tank combat has never felt so real and so alive. No more turn-based style fighting in the Steel Panthers tradition, but with just as much nitty-gritty realism. The campaigns are excellently done, putting on more responsibilities of an officer to the player than just commanding men in battle. Of course, if that's not your thing, Wings Simulations and Psygnosis thought it appropriate enough to include an Aide-de-camp to take over this micromanagement. Combine all of the above with the excellent manuals which will please a hardcore tanker while teaching a newbie the basics, and you have a great game on your hands…

Der Vergleich hinkt - dennoch hat mir seit Wargasm kein Panzerspiel mehr so gut gefallen wie Panzer Elite. Die spannend gestalteten Missionen, die liebevoll nachgebildeten Landschaften und sogar das entnervend lang dauernde Nachladen des Geschützes entfalten ihre Wirkung - nicht zuletzt durch die Gewißheit, daß man es mit einer technisch sehr akkuraten Simulation zu tun hat. Dabei erzeugt das Spiel eine so authentische Stimmung, daß man Angst um seinen Panzer hat und sogar mit abgeschossenen Flügelmännern leidet.

Das erste Produkt aus der Spiele-Schmiede Wings Simulation überzeugt auf Anhieb. Die Atmosphäre auf dem Schlachtfeld sucht ihresgleichen, denn das Terrain mit den vielen Bäumen, Büschen und Häusern ermöglicht taktisches Vorgehen und das Ausnützen der Gelände-Beschaffenheit. Allerdings sieht das nicht übermäßig hübsch aus. Außerdem erwartet Sie eine steile Lernkurve. Trotzdem: Wenn Sie an einer ernst zu nehmenden Panzer-Umsetzung interessiert sein sollten, dann greifen Sie auf jeden Fall zu Panzer Elite.

Нет, действительно, эта игра меня очень порадовала. Все хорошо продумано, тщательно выверено и сделано на совесть. Конечно, историческая справедливость соблюдена не полностью, но сделано это сознательно, с целью повышения играбельности. Жалко, конечно, что нет наших танкистов, но что уж тут поделаешь. Придется немцев американцами истреблять...

Why are good tank sims so darn difficult to create? With great interest, I followed Panzer Elite’s development beginning last year. I was amazed at the screen shots, intrigued by the detailed damage modeling, and quite impressed with the developers’ zeal. Obviously, a great deal of hard work went into creating this title. Expectations were high, but somehow, the magical element of entertainment turned up missing in the end. Weekend warriors beware. Panzer Elite will likely be a game enjoyed by die-hard historical tank sim lovers.

Panzer Elite était un très bon titre à sa sortie, mais aujourd'hui il est complément dépassé. Cette édition SE se montre d'un intérêt très limité et les quelques bonus qu'elle apporte ne justifient pas cette nouvelle sortie du jeu, ni son prix. La seule conclusion qui s'impose c'est que Jowood a besoin d'argent. Moi en tout cas je conseille aux fans de PE de garder le leur. Quand aux autres, c'est comme vous voulez, si vous avez envie d'acheter un soft à la réalisation moyen-âgeuse et dont l'aspect simulation c'est fait rattraper par Steel Beasts....
