Нелинейный сюжет, чтобы не чувствовать себя ограниченными в выборе пути. Секретные уровни и оружие, как в аркадах. Куча всякой техники, которую можно взламывать. Саундтрек, который не хочется отключить на второй минуте.

Paradise Cracked is a decent attempt at creating a turn based cyberpunk game. Its strengths include an interesting storyline, well executed RPG elements, non-linear gameplay, and an awesome soundtrack. And with its strong influences by many of the cult computer-related movies and books out there, it'll be sure to touch your heart if you're a computer enthusiast. The downsides include subpar voice casting, slow gameplay and rather dated by today's standards graphics. I wouldn't recommend it just to anyone – but fans of turn based strategy and RPG games might find a hidden gem here.

Хакер знал, что разум и логика — далеко не абсолютные категории, однако заметное любому несовершенство бытия вгоняло его в депрессию. Он вновь взглянул на бумажку. "НЕ СЧИТАЙ СЕБЯ САМЫМ УМНЫМ, ВСЕ УСТРОЕНО ИМЕННО ТАК, КАК ДОЛЖНО. ДАЖЕ ТВОИ ПРИПАДКИ — ЧАСТЬ ОСОБОГО ПЛАНА". Без подписи… Хакер плеснул в пластиковый стаканчик водки, добавил горсть какого-то нового индийского порошка и залпом выпил ядерную смесь. Выхода не было. Придется терпеть.

Turn-based games, you either love' em or loath 'em. With a lack of new turn-based titles currently on the market it was good to see one appear for the US market from Tri Synergy, Buka Entertainment and developer Mist Land. Paradise Cracked is a futuristic turn-based tactical RPG set in the future where you play the role of a hacker, imaginatively called Hacker, who is on the run from the nasty futuristic police who want his blood for uncovering some rather confidential information surrounding a powerful supercomputer called CyberBrain. Now gathering that piece of plot was no easy task, the game doesn't exactly give much away at the start, it's all rather rushed and hurried through a variety of short cutscenes.

Glaubt man den Machern von Paradise Cracked, liegt in 100 Jahren die wirkliche Welt in Trümmern, während sich die Menschheit im Cyberspace vergnügt. Auch Ihre Spielfigur, ein Nachwuchs-Hacker, streift durch das Netz, als er über hochbrisante Pläne der Regierung stolpert. Die Staatsmacht nimmt sofort die Verfolgung auf, und Ihnen bleibt nichts Anderes übrig, als in den Untergrund zu flüchten. Dort führen Sie nach Rollenspielmanier Gespräche oder übernehmen Aufträge, die Erfahrungspunkte einbringen. Die Ghettos sind ein hartes Pflaster, und Schießereien mit verfeindeten Banden oder der Polizei bleiben nicht aus.

Paradise Cracked hat mich persönlich nicht gerade vom Hocker gerissen. Die Ansätze sind zweifelsohne gut, doch die Umsetzung ist einen Tick zu träge geraten. Die einzelnen Missionen ziehen sich teilweise wie Kaugummi und die zahllosen Nichtspielercharaktere stiften mit all ihren Tipps und Hinweisen noch mehr Verwirrung als das eigenartige Menüsystem. Dann doch lieber einen Teller Borschtsch mit einem guten Schluck russischen Wassers. Prost!

Kein "Mist", aber auch nicht der große Wurf. Die Fehler sind zu groß, als dass Paradise Cracked eine überdurchschnittliche Wertung erhalten könnte. Wer in einem Rollenspiel Story und Dialoge derart in den Sand setzt, muss mit hohen Abstrichen in der Wertung rechnen. Zudem ist das Rundensystem unangebracht. Nur für geduldige Vielzocker mit einem Hang zu Filmen wie "Matrix" oder "Blade Runner".

If you're willing to endure the bad dialogue, limited carrying capacity, and annoyances inherent with a fully turn-based game, you'll probably find a lot to like about Paradise Cracked. It has an interesting story, plenty of gear to find and sell, and unique characters. "Biorhythm."

Add to all this the absence of a multiplayer mode and an emphasis on unnecessary cursing--apparently dropped in just to ensure that Paradise Cracked got a Mature rating--and you're left with a game that's decidedly strange but not any good. We need more turn-based games in the spirit of X-COM, but we also need intelligible stories, clear mission objectives, and quicker-moving gameplay. None of these elements are offered here, so give this one a miss.

Die rundenbasierte Strategiequal mit Rollenspiel-Touch Paradise Cracked verschleppt Sie in die ferne Zukunft. Als junger Hacker sollen Sie dem Geheimnis des Großrechners BigBrain auf die Schliche kommen. Minimale Storyhappen, grausige Kameraführung und nerviges Hexfeld-Gelatsche ersticken jeden Spaß im Keim. Spielen Sie stattdessen Jagged Alliance.

So . . . we’ve got here a good premise for a game, a promising story, very decent 3D graphics, 3rd person with decent camera control – all put in peril by a the double whammy of a terrible interface and a devastatingly wrong-headed game mechanic. Either one of these flaws would be enough to sink a good game. Put them together and you’ve got the Titanic.
