There is perhaps ten hours of gameplay and throughout I was very impressed with what I saw, even telling my wife on several occasions that it was the best game I had played for a long time. UNTIL, the ending. In the world of terrible writing and gameplay in adventure games, Remedy rose high above many other titles. However, the ending is one of the worst I have seen. All of a sudden it was all over and the loose ends had been tied as if by magic. I’ve never been a fan of the Nancy Drew series for this reason.
For a first time 'round the block, I do feel that the Nyqvists have created a nice bit of interactive entertainment for the "Adventure Community". I would like to offer my sincere congratulations on this, their first adventure game project. It is my hope that you will take the opportunity to pass through this "watercolor painting" and play "Remedy", for this independent game is one that should not be missed. I look forward to the Nyqvist's next production.
Remedy is a delightful game. It is neither fancy nor fanciful, but it delivers a solid story in a solid way. It left me feeling that it could really have happened to me and that it might be within my power to create a professional game as well. My concluding thoughts were, “That was nice. May I have another, please?”
Any fan of East Side Story and the other mysteries will surely enjoy Remedy. Although it's a bit more "rough around the edges" as it is the earliest game in the series, the in-depth storyline and mystery will grab any Carol Reed fan!
Story, puzzles and execution of this first work of Mikael and Eleen Nyquist are well thought out, carefully worked on and error free. It is a kind of calm promenade and a celebration for all, who like to concentrate on extensive exploration. I enjoyed "Remedy" despite its shortness. In extent and degree of difficulty it doesn't come near 'A Quiet Weekend in Capri', but gives a good understanding of the homeland of the authors in a very pleasing way. The price of $15 including shipping is o.k.. The end of "Remedy" points to a possible planned new detective game with Carol. I'm up for it wishing the successor to be more tricky!
Which leads us to Remedy’s most debilitating flaw—its length. There was much to enjoy in this game, but not very much time to enjoy it. I was able to finish this game in less than three hours. While I would like to think that I am just that brilliantly smart, it is far more likely that the game is just that short.
The plot in Remedy never reached any great heights, and the ending was rather flat, but it had enough substance to carry it through its 4 to 5 hours of playing time. Whilst it isn't Myst, it was an engaging interlude, as many of these indy games are. The approach to the graphics will also ensure it remains remembered for a while yet.
