Reservoir Dogs is a really enjoyable game - if you're a fan of the film and of violent games, then you should really enjoy yourself. It's got style, class and lots and lots of violence, as well as a kick ass soundtrack. It's not perfect by any means - some of the gameplay is a little two dimensional, even given the variety of ways that you can deal with the cops and the situations you find yourself in, which may affect the lifespan. I finished it in under ten hours, and any competent gamer should be able to do the same.
PC Powerplay (Sep, 2006)
Wer nue a la GTA durch die Straße heizen will, bleibe lieber beim Original...

The game is rather based on the plot of the movies instead of really following it. The well-known (action) scenes and quotes certainly aren’t absent, but aside of that you’ll see things that were never in the movie. The emphasis in the game is more on the action, a good point, for the game at least, because the spirit of the movie is partly lost.

The concept behind Reservoir Dogs is surprisingly solid but absolutely fails on its delivery. The frills of the game are nice but they are drowned out in the poor gameplay and repetitiveness of the overall package. Somewhere out there is a script writer who is playing through this game and absolutely tearing their hair out while yelling “But it wasn’t supposed to be like that!”
Gameplay (Benelux) (Sep, 2006)
Playfuls (Sep 05, 2006)
Eventually, regardless of how much you wish the opposite, you'll have to accept the fact that nothing exceeds the boundaries of the adapted script. The additional offerings rely heavily on groundless violence, so that the story falls behind. I wished more freedom, and the lack of the feeling that I was on a filming set; I wished, as fan of the movie, the possibility to alter each embodied character's resolution, after all, I wished for the producers to capture the very authenticity of the Tarantino universe. Perhaps I wished too much.
GamesRadar (Oct 25, 2006)
Beneath its cool presentation, Reservoir Dogs is a fairly average shoot 'em up with good intentions and a story that's just interesting enough to keep you trudging through its lengthy levels. It's acceptably action-packed, but if it hadn't been patterned after Quentin Tarantino's signature film, you'd probably have forgotten it exists by now.
1UP (Nov 28, 2006)
Reservoir Dogs won't appeal to hardcore aficionados of the film; the almost-total omission of the original cast and likenesses will probably cause fans to attempt a bullet festival of their own. However, the peculiar mechanics do make the game worth a rental to the curious, if just to see how novel it can be at times. Like the infamous ear-cutting scene, it's humorous -- but a bloody mess.
GameSpot (Oct 25, 2006)
Were Reservoir Dogs content to be merely another generic action game, sans license, its mediocrity would be pretty unassuming and far less offensive than what it does by taking the Reservoir Dogs name. This game doesn't answer any questions left by the film or provide a unique and interesting interactive version of the story. It simply punches a hole in the story and begins tearing away at the edges to try and cram a bunch of lame-duck shooter levels and ridiculously bad driving missions where such things just do not fit. If you aren't familiar with the film, you'll be equal parts confused by its reconfiguration of the story and irritated by its poorly conceived gameplay. If you are a fan of the film, multiply those same feelings by a factor of a hundred.
Absolute Games ( (Aug 30, 2006)
Video Game Talk (Jun 04, 2007)
The entire campaign won’t take more than six hours to fully complete. Without any multiplayer options, the only reason to return to the single player narrative is to unlock art and video sequences. This poor excuse for a shooter is without replay value and should be avoided by all PC gamers, even the most fanatical of Tarantino groupies. Leave Reservoir Dogs to collect dust on the PC game shelf and pick up the latest release of the DVD instead.
GameSpy (Nov 06, 2006)
If you haven't guessed yet, Reservoir Dogs is not a fitting tribute to the classic film, or a good game in its own right. It's playable, mostly, but so uninteresting and bland that it's nearly impossible to think of a reason to.
IGN (Oct 24, 2006)
Movie licensed games have often gotten a bad rap -- unfortunately Reservoir Dogs is the latest one that can be added to the list. Repetitive gameplay and limited replayability and difficulty settings are just the tip of the iceberg of a game that could've explored so much more of the characters from the movie, but just barely scratched the surface of the film. In fact, if you're a fan of the film, you'll probably have more fun watching it over again than playing this version of the story.

Maximum PC (Feb 16, 2007)
We’re struggling to find any reason to recommend this half-baked console port. This is money better spent on the DVD of the film, even if you already have a copy.
