Resident Evil 2: Dual Shock Version

In short, Capcom has written the book on how to make a sequel once again. RE2 is an absolute winner and represents the pinnacle of the survival horror genre on Sony's 32-bit machine and the PC. Games like RE2 come along at most once a year. When they do, adventure and horror fans alike owe it to themselves to be in line. The horror has just begun.

The overall gameplay structure is enriched by a second quest that is linked to the original, and it explains everything that the first quest didn't. The second quest might be a little tougher at first, but that changes quickly enough and you are on the same wavelength as before. The final boss is too easy, but that doesn't mean you're gonna get it that easily. The other bosses in the game are at least a little tougher and should be able to keep you ready and alert. It is good to be scared.

But at the end of the day there are two things you should ask yourself before rushing out to buy this wickedly essential game. Firstly: have you played the PlayStation version through already? Secondly: are you a poof when it comes to a bit of blood and guts? If the answer to either is 'yes', you should give Resident Evil 2 a miss. If, on the other hand, you appreciate quality adventure games, like a good scare and don't mind spilling a bit of claret along the way, this is the game for you. Buy it and scream.

Resident Evil 2 is a masterpiece and will definitely make you pee in your pants more than once, but you wont get much replay after everything is seen and done. I DEFINITLY recommend renting this game, if not buying it just because of the fantastic experience that you will get from playing it through with each character and letting the story unfold before your eyes. All in all, the most scary and fantastic single player game for the N64.

Nu we zo'n beetje allemaal in het bezit zijn van een Pentiummetje met 3D-kaart kunnen we ook allemaal lekker genieten van een prachtige Resident Evil 2. Spannend, angstaanjagend, net een horrorfilm! Wat wil een mens nog meer?

As with the initial Resident Evil, RE2 offers action, adventure, and a hell of a lot of zombies. With a fairly good computer, with at least 4mb of video memory, you should be able to enjoy this title to its fullest, and the short learning curve and completion time make this game great for novice players too.

Resident Evil was a big hit on PSX, and made quite an impression with the PC release too. This type of game normally does not appeal to me but I thought I'd check it out, see what the fuss was about I am glad I did because I've just played it for about 7 to 8 hours in 3 sittings, and after this I'll go back for more!

På det hela taget är Resident Evil 2 en märkligt beroendeframkallande upplevelse. Det ligger en stor njutning i att köra igenom spelet som Leon, Claire eller båda, trots skönhetsfläckarna och på grund av att spelets problem ändras lite beroende av vem du spelar, vilket ger bra möjligheter att spela om det.

Un jeu à la fois passionnant et angoissant. Une réalisation magistrale, digne d'un film. On retrouve avec plaisir tous les composants qui ont fait le succès du premier volet, mais avec une réalisation nettement plus aboutie. En plus, les programmeurs ont fait un gros effort pour que le jeu tire bien partie de toutes les configurations possibles, ce qui donne en plus un jeu très stable. Certainement, l'un des hits de cette année.

Podsumowując chciałbym zauważyć, że pomimo kilku niedociągnięć, najnowszy produkt VIRGIN jest grą dobrą. Za tym stwierdzeniem przemawia trzymająca w napięciu akcja i fabuła rodem z najlepszych filmów grozy. Inni mogą potraktować ten tytuł z dużą rezerwą, ale rasowi fani horrorów z pewnością spędzą przy nim niejedną ekscytującą noc.

Du kan være sikker på, at alt i rummet bliver levende, hvis du sidder alene en sen nattetime med Resident Evil 2 — stemningen er i top!

Als je houdt van schitterende graphics en een flinke dosis koude rillingen, dan is dit een mooi tussendoortje. Maar als je denkt dat dit het niveau van bijvoorbeeld een Half Life haalt, dan moet ik je helaas teleurstellen.

RESIDENT EVIL 2: PLATINUM EDITION holds its own as far as gameplay is concerned, but next to the latest and greatest PC releases it falls a little flat. The title probably won’t match the success of the console version, but gamers without Playstations might still find much to enjoy here.

Resident Evil 2's origin as a PlayStation game is apparent. The method by which you save games will infuriate PC purists, as it is not only sporadic, but requires an item of which there are a limited number. This is part of the game's design, though, and it would lose much of its suspense without it. But if such conventions annoy you, consider yourself warned. If you can brave its shortcomings, however, Resident Evil 2 is good, scary fun.

Sure, Resident Evil 2 has a cool backstory, lots of exploding zombies, and it will truly scare you in a few places, but it only satisfies hardcore gamers for a few hours at most. If you want a truly good horror shooter, look in Half-Life's direction.

It succeeds as an action game but fails to deliver challenging puzzles, so it is not recommended for adventure purists. Still, if you are looking for a terrorizing experience packed with lots of action and intense atmosphere, this game is definitely what you are looking for.

But if the next Resident Evil game doesn't break some new ground, other games that try harder could easily pass it by. The game was derivative even in its first incarnation, and although RE2 tweaks plenty of things along the way, it's still a do-things-in- the-right-order adventure game enlivened by periodic action.
