It may not be a radically new Resident Evil 5, but the PC version of the game still manages to hold its own with an improved control scheme and extra Mercenaries mode. While the addition of costumes is somewhat minor, and you may require a few upgrades to your computer to take full advantage of what the game has to offer, you're exploring a great story and excellent gameplay. Plus, the inclusion of 3D is a harbinger of what gaming will probably become, and the effect is extremely nice if you have the opportunity to take advantage of it. Umbrella's virus hasn't completely evolved, but it's definitely worth isolating yourself with a copy of RE5 for a while.

Los usuarios de PC que no lo hayan podido degustar deben saber que se encuentran ante un juego de acción en tercera persona, de los que últimamente no se prodigan mucho por PC, y que ya simplemente por esta característica se distancia de las decenas de shooter que pueblan esta plataforma y es una manera distinta y excelente de acercarse al genero de la acción, todo arropado con unos valores de producción de autentico infarto. En cualquier caso felicitar y animar a Capcom a que siga realizando estas adaptaciones a PC que no se conforman con respetar los originales de consola si no que encima los mejoran. Sin duda una gran adaptación de un gran juego.

The second protagonist, Sheva, remains the defining element of Resident Evil 5. As an AI player, she holds her own pretty well in combat, but her behavior can be a bit inconsistent when things get rough. This is why the two-player cooperative mode is so fundamental to the game. Having a living, thinking human to assist you on each mission really brings the experience to a whole new level. This also allows for the implementation of more advanced strategies, an important asset to have, as we all know that video game zombies will not play fair. There is really no question that RE5 was meant to be played this way, but it certainly stands tall with its single-player mode. If you missed out the console release, you have absolutely no excuse for passing on this version. There can be little doubt that Resident Evil 5 will make the other games in your software library quite jealous.
While Resident Evil 5 does not redefine the survivor horror genre like RE 4 did, it does add a cooperative element that sets it apart from the other entries in the series. Once you head online, it becomes clear the designers of this game wanted you to play it with a friend, and I hope this type of thinking stays for future entries to come. If you have a friend who likes RE, this is the entry for you.

Resident Evil 5 is a must-have game. It isn’t without minor flaws, but they do little to undermine everything that Capcom did so very right. Fans of RE4 will not be disappointed in the least, but I imagine survival horror purists will continue to be severely irked at the new direction the franchise has taken. At this point, I would be just as happy to see a return to the series’ roots as I would a further evolution of the action/survival hybrid. Either way, I am very much looking forward to RE6.

Besser kann man das Koop-Abenteuer in Afrika nicht umsetzen. Die Zombies sehen in höherer Auflösung um einiges bedrohlicher aus als im Konsolen­-Original. Die japanischen Entwickler nutzen also die Power moderner Gaming-PCs – brav! Zwar fühlt es sich merkwürdig an, in Zeiten von Dead Space bei jedem Schuss wie angewurzelt stehen bleiben zu müssen. Wer jedoch den Vorgänger so geliebt hat wie ich, wird nur wenige Momente brauchen, um sich daran zu gewöhnen. Wir empfehlen aber, das Abenteuer mit einem menschlichen Mitspieler zu bestreiten. Denn zockt man Resident Evil 5 alleine, gibt es viele kleine Ungereimtheiten, die im Online-Koop-Modus nicht existieren. Sheva räumt ihr Inventar nicht auf, läuft wie ein Huhn umher und die häufigen Endboss-Kämpfe gestalten sich um einiges schwieriger. Deshalb müsste man der Einzelspielerwertung ein paar Spielspaßpunkte abziehen. Trotzdem: Dieses Action-Feuerwerk darf kein Action-Anhänger verpassen!

Resident Evil 5 ist deshalb nicht das erhoffte Überspiel für mich geworden, weil es seine charakteristischen Konturen selbst verwischt und die Anbindung an seine Wurzeln verliert - manchmal hat man das Gefühl, ein Lost Gears of Devil May Evil zu spielen. Hey, selbst dieser wilde Mix macht richtig Laune! Aber Capcom muss aufpassen, dass man bei all den Explosionen und dem Engine-Gepose nicht irgendwann die Titel im eigenen Hause verwechselt. Jun Takeuchi meinte kürzlich, dass sich japanische Spieldesigner mehr am Westen orientieren sollten. Technisch mag das wichtig und richtig sein, um konkurrenzfähig zu bleiben. Aber inhaltlich sollten die Japaner sich ihrer wertvollen Tradition bewusst bleiben, um den Horror mit Resident Evil 6 in seiner erschreckenden Form fortzuführen.

There are a lot of things about Resident Evil 5 that just makes me ask “Why?”. Why are quick-time events still not implemented well? Why is there a cover system? A lot of questionable decisions weigh down the game, but it still manages to pull through as a great game with a lot of replay value. The well-done online component is a major plus, and when Resident Evil 5 gets it just right – when gameplay hits those highs that Resident Evil 4 hit on a constant basis almost effortlessly – it’s enough to give this game a recommendation.

Resident Evil 5 successfully builds on the foundation of its predecessor while taking a drastically different direction. Having a partner introduces new degrees of gameplay depth and dramatic tension that make the game much more exciting to play. Though the slower, more deliberate movement and shooting may not appeal to everyone, this sequel's frequent large-scale battles and co-op play still offer a fun and exciting adventure.

Als Serienveteran störte es mich anfangs schon, dass Capcom den subtilen, unheimlichen Horror der Vorgänger durch brachiale Action ersetzt hat. Als ich mich jedoch daran gewöhnt hatte, war es um mich geschehen. Resident Evil 5 packt durch sein atemloses Tempo, die furiose Inszenierung und die krachenden Ballereien. Besonderes Lob gebührt den Entwicklern für den Koop-Modus. Der ist nicht nur komfortabel, sondern vor allem auch extrem spaßig. Ein Pflichtkauf für erwachsene Zombie-Fans!

While the story is the usual cheesy, convoluted Resident Evil madness, it was good enough to sustain us through the game’s tense action set pieces and horrific boss battles. Unsurprisingly, Resident Evil 5 looks far better on PC than it does on console; though we had to fiddle with settings to get rid of the occasional hitch. It seems Capcom is making a habit of good (if very late) PC conversions, and Resident Evil 5 is well worth playing on PC if you haven’t already done so elsewhere. A great evolution of the Resident Evil series; tense, scary and fun.

L'adaptation PC de Resident Evil 5 tire plutôt vers le haut même si au final, elle ne masque en rien les carences de cet épisode. De fait, si on a droit à des ajouts anecdotiques, réclamant de toute façon du matos hors de prix, on sera tenté de ne pas faire le difficile d'autant que cet épisode reste tout de même un chouette jeu d'action et en ces temps qui courent ma bonne dame, c'est mieux que rien.
Long ago, playing a Resident Evil game is about mood, scares, and exploration. Now, playing the new Resident Evil game is mostly about shooting whatever moves.

Получив уйму затрещин за РС-версию Resident Evil 4, Capcom подошла к пятой части серии с должным пиететом, благо, ее движок MT Framework от рождения дружит с «персоналками». Управление — привычное W/A/S/D с возможностью изменения по вкусу, мышь работает безо всяких проблем, настройка графических параметров доступна из меню, а не через отдельную утилиту. В общем, все как в лучших домах.
