Rise of the Argonauts

Rise of the Argonauts on monin tavoin ongelmainen tapaus, mutta lopulta sitä ei kuitenkaan tee mieli lytätä. Liquidilla on ehkä ollut liian kovat tavoitteet eikä tarpeeksi resursseja, mutta kunnianhimon puutteesta peliä ei voi syyttää. Uskollisuus kreikan myyteille ja niiden tyylille on pelissä niin vahva, että ostopäätöksen voi tehdä melkein pelkästään sen perusteella. Jos Argonauttien tarina ja antiikin jumaltarut kiinnostavat, pelaajan on helppoa ohittaa Rise of the Argonautsin viat ja nauttia siitä miellyttävän vakavana ja runsassanaisena kevytroolipelinä. Kiinnostuksen puuttuessa kyseiset ongelmat voivat maistua aivan liian karvailta.

Cooles Szenario, gute Story, unterhaltsame Kämpfe, gelungene Charakterentwicklung – hinter all diese Punkte kann man bei Rise of the Argonauts getrost ein Häkchen kritzeln. Leider konnten die Entwickler ihre Versprechen in einigen anderen Bereichen aber nicht halten. Grafisch zeigt sich die Suche nach dem Goldenen Vlies über weite Strecken kaum heldenhaft, die interessanten Begleiter werden nicht ausreichend genutzt und vor allem herrscht oft ziemlicher Leerlauf bis Jason endlich mal wieder die Waffen sprechen lassen darf.

Ambitieux et souvent généreux, Rise of the Argonauts propose de se plonger dans une formidable épopée qu'il est difficile de quitter une fois débutée. Cette conclusion pourra d'ailleurs sembler étrange compte tenu de nombreux bugs graphiques, des ralentissements et du système de jeu incomplet. Pour autant, Rise of the Argonauts provoque bel et bien une sorte d'hypnose chez le joueur, de celle qui nous fait accumuler tant d'heures de jeu au détriment de notre vie sociale. Etonnant donc car le titre de Liquid Entertainment n'est pas le jeu de cette fin d'année mais réussit malgré tout son office lorsqu'il s'agit de maintenir toute notre attention.

Es hätte so schön werden können! Griechische Mythen sind ja derzeit ohnehin sehr gefragt, selbst mit all den Verdrehungen. Rise of the Argonauts leidet aber sehr an den vielen Bugs und technischen Ungereimtheiten, die zu etlichen Abstürzen führen. Dann noch der sehr geringe Umfang und der fehlende Koop-Modus ... Immerhin, allen Gerüchten zum Trotz handelt es sich hier nicht um ein reines Hack’n’Slay-Game, sondern um ein „richtiges“ Rollenspiel mit dem üblichen Umfang an Dialogen und „Fetch-Quests“. Die Grafik wirkt etwas veraltet, ermöglicht aber ein nahezu wartefreies Spielen.

"Rise of the Argonauts" faz uma grande mistura sobre o mito de Jasão e os Argonautas com o intuito de criar um RPG de ação simples e acessível. Pena que tal simplicidade tenha diluído a mecânica ao ponto de transformar o jogo em uma aventura de pancadaria de apenas dois ou três golpes, interrompida por muita falação. Ainda assim, o roteiro é interessante o suficiente para prender a atenção daqueles que curtem o tema.

Liquid Entertainment прилежно скопировала концепцию у BioWare и попыталась добавить к ней пару свежих идей. Но на протяжении всего процесса разработки нас так настырно тыкали носом в боевую систему и расчлененку, что все наивно подумали, будто игра только из них и состоит. По-хорошему, так и нужно было сделать, но разработчики зачем-то решили утяжелить концепцию совершенно ненужными элементами: длинными диалогами и огромными пустыми уровнями. При этом толком не проработали ни боевую, ни ролевую составляющие. В итоге Rise of the Argonauts получилась одновременно занудной и поверхностной, с невыдержанным темпом и неверно расставленными акцентами. А в мире, где уже есть Mass Effect, God of War и Fallout 3, подобное — непростительно.

Ciertamente, gozar del beneplácito del panteón en pos de una causa justa no es algo de lo que dispongamos a diario en el universo del videojuego. Por ello, y pese a todo, resulta una apuesta decididamente interesante, ideal para un alquiler de fin de semana.

Rise of the Argonauts is an unquestionably flawed game. This should not be taken to mean it's not fun to play. Even with the underwhelming aspects of the game factored in, this is a truly ambitious game. It feels like an A-list title made with a C-list budget, but there is heart to it. I believe the team at Liquid was trying to make something special, and while they didn't fully succeed, you can see glimmers of what could have been shining through fairly often. It's these moments - when you pull off a beautiful killstroke or endure a child's five-minute musical sales pitch or debate the merits of the Golden Fleece myth with a dissembling villain while senators cheer and jeer you on - that makes Rise of the Argonauts an odyssey worth a playthrough.

Прошел год, PR-чары спали, и взору публики предстал неуклюжий гибрид, пытающийся усидеть на двух шатких стульях.

Правда в том, что 80% времени вам предстоит провести, сражаясь в одинаковых боях, выполняя неинтересные задания и слушая скучные диалоги. Даже если вы очень-очень сильно соскучились по God of War и всей этой греческой мифологии, Rise of the Argonauts отправится пылиться на полку максимум через пару часов игры.

Nee, Zeus persönlich soll einen Blitz auf mich schleudern, wenn ich hier eine Kaufempfehlung ausspreche. Ich kann euch nicht mal raten, auf einen Patch zu warten, da es unwahrscheinlich ist, dass dieser riesige, tiefsitzende Wust an Designfehlern auf diese Weise noch ausgebügelt werden könnte. Derzeit spricht einfach rein gar nichts dafür, über 40 Euro in dieses Produkt zu investieren.

If there's an upside to this game, it's that despite the shallow combat system, it's rather amusing to spill blood in battle. That's a small upside for a game that costs $60 and demands you sit through hours of talking just to kill stuff.

So let me sum things up in terms of the overall experience: Rise of the Argonauts is a single player action-RPG where you play as Jason and are on a single-minded quest to get the Golden Fleece to revive your love, Alceme. You travel a fixed and linear path with minor and forgettable interactions, picking up some characters along the way. Your choices come down to one-of-three weapons and which of four skill trees to emphasize. There are a number of annoyances throughout, very few things to hook you into the game apart from possibly a prior love for the mythology. And given that there are absolutely no paths to replayability, the value of the game is questionable at best - at worst it is an absolute waste of money. Regardless, it is a lousy value and a mediocre game - one that is easily avoided without regret.
