Robin Hood mixes up a great blend of ambush, spy, infiltration, and strategic missions to create a wonderful campaign package. The puzzles are integrated seamlessly into a rich and living world that is visually spectacular with a story that is true to the legend of Robin Hood. The intuitive control system keeps the challenge within the gameplay and not the interface.

In conclusion I would like to say that Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood is a very enjoyable game which will keep you amused for hours on end ! As I said, the colouring and the artwork is simply amazing, it's a feast to look at !! I'm glad I had the chance to play (and review :) this game. Perhaps you should rewrite that letter to Santa Claus :)

The only noteworthy downside to the game is that once you've finished it, you will have little on no desire to play it again, which goes hand in hand with the lack of the multiplayer mode. In other words, the replay value of Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood is extremely low. But can this be measured with a great authentic feeling of being the most righteous thief in human history? I think not. My recommendation is that fans of tactical strategy games go out and buy this one. The gameplay is well thought-out, and the game design concepts are excellently executed.

Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It combines clever missions, interesting character abilities, and a smidgen of resource management into an absorbing game that fans of the strategy will be playing for quite some time.

Die nicht-lineare Kampagne ist den Entwicklern sehr gut gelungen. Durch die Auswahl meines nächsten Einsatzortes auf der Übersichtskarte habe ich zumindest eine perfekte Illusion von Freiheit – auch wenn die Story ihren vorgefertigten Lauf nimmt. Das einfache Kampfsystem spart mir so manchen Schweißausbruch, den mir das oft stressige Commandos 2 bescherte. Leicht vergesse ich im Sherwood Forest die Zeit, knoble an Lösungswegen und werfe sie über den Haufen, weil meiner Gruppe eine Schlägerei mit den Wachen dazwischengekommen ist. So entstehen trotz der berechenbaren Story viele Spannungsmomente. Trotzdem kann Robin Hood Desperados nicht überholen, vor allem weil die Nebendarsteller teilweise die gleichen Talente haben wie die Heroen. Dennoch können Sie schon einmal Kassetten mit Irish-Folk-Liedern bereitlegen, denn der Trip in den Sherwood Forest ist ein Muss für alle Taktik-Fans.

Overall, Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood is a pretty good game. Not everyone is going to like it, especially impatient people due to the fact tactics aren’t usually planned and performed at the drop of a hat, or people who expect an easy game, but anyone who likes tactical games or is interested in the legend of Robin Hood will more than likely enjoy the game. The difficulty level is configurable, so those who do have a tough time will be able to tone it down a bit, but there will still be some who will have a hard time.

Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood's romantic depiction of Robin and his Merry Men and its clever game design really help bring the swashbuckling legend to life, much like the classic Errol Flynn movie. It's a bit of a shame that the game is so lacking in the way of extras, such as multiplayer options or an editor of any kind, but the campaign itself is presented extremely well. Games such as these, which are based on classic themes or stories, often tend to fall short of the mark, but Robin Hood gets its subject matter right, and with plenty of playability, storytelling, and atmosphere.

Probably one of the most underrated RTS games last year was Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive. It had a huge amount of challenge and it did justice to the Wild West setting with some slick graphics and sound. Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood (LoS) does the same thing for the Sherwood Forest while sticking closely to the conventions of Desperados, which is a good thing and a bad thing.

Robin Hood – The Legend of Sherwood is well done, and quite enjoyable. The missions get harder as you progress, and players will be asked to use their brains rather than just blindly wading into battle. Fans of the era, fans of Robin Hood, and fans of tactical combat games will find this game worth notching their bows for.

Overall, I was happily surprised with Robin Hood. Well, maybe not surprised so much since I enjoyed Spellbound's Desperados, but the new features such as resource management and the non-linear mission path is a great addition to the genre. These new hooks will be sorely missed if they're not included in future games of this type, and Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood is responsible for starting them.

In nahezu allen Echtzeit-Taktikspielen wie beispielsweise Commandos oder Desperados wird ein vorsichtiges Handeln zum Spielprinzip erhoben. Auch in Robin Hood ist übermäßiger Mut fehl am Platz - und das, obwohl Robin auf die Unterstützung der Bevölkerung zählen kann. Das Spiel Robin Hood erzählt in rund 40 Akten die gleichnamige Sage. Während König Richard auf Kreuzzug ist, unterdrücken der Sheriff von Nottingham und Prinz John das Volk. Die Bauern und Händler leiden unter hohen Steuern sowie einer willkürlichen Justiz.

Overall, Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood is a very unique game that combines elements of several genres. Some adventuring, role-playing, strategic manoeuvres, and some resource management are all part of this package. It is also very nice to see familiar characters such as Friar Tuck and Little John. Leading them against evil Prince John will make many people satisfied. If you've enjoyed similar games (Commandos and Desperados are good examples), or are looking for a unique game with a fresh setting, this game will offer you a pleasant gaming experience.

De Artificiële Intelligentie van de vijand is op zijn minst uitdagend, en de indrukwekkende, handgeschilderde grafieken maken het spel af. Ook het geluid is opmerkelijk goed van kwaliteit en zorgt voor een geweldige atmosfeer. Tot slot is het verhaal van het type 'meeslepend', wat van Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood een spel maakt dat mag gezien worden

Robin Hood is een leuk spel dat verder bouwt op bestaande formules maar dat kampt met een gebrek aan variatie...

Ca a le goût de Desperados, l'odeur de Desperados, mais c'est quand même moins réussi. Le jeu fait la part belle aux combats au détriment de la réflexion, et il suffit trop souvent d'éliminer les soldats un à un à l'épée ou à l'arc pour progresser dans les niveaux, sans avoir besoin d'échafauder de subtiles tactiques de diversion. Je réserverai donc ce titre aux inconditionnels du genre action/tactique ; ceux qui ne connaissent pas encore ce style de jeu feront mieux de se tourner vers Desperados ou Commandos 2, qui doivent désormais être dispos à vil prix.

En somme, si Robin Des Bois bénéficie incontestablement de bonnes idées, celles-ci sont mises à mal par le déroulement des niveaux imposant un recours à la force bien plus qu'à un véritable casse-tête à la Commandos. Le système de combat semble d'ailleurs étudié pour ça, avec des escarmouches à l'issue en votre faveur, même à un contre cinq. Bref, entre action et tactique le titre de Spellbound a du mal à trouver sa place, dommage car les innovations qu'il propose sont plutôt sympathiques.
