Finally, there are a number of small but irritating bugs such as mis-labelled keys on the keyguide, or key commands that function only erratically. Some basic functions are consequently difficult to figure out (the manual is little help in this regard) or to get working properly.

So Battle of Britain fails to live up to Rowan's previous air titles. This is all the more depressing given the fact that Empire is shifting Rowan out of the PC sim development market and into console development. Battle of Britain is definitely the most involved recreation of the conflict that we've seen yet but the density of the flight model will definitely alienate some gamers. If you're really into flight sims, then the game will reward any investment you make in it. But if you're looking for something fun then you'd do better to look elsewhere.

Mann oh Mann, bei Adlertag sind heftig viele Flieger gleichzeitig in der Luft. Dass die Grafik dabei immer flüssig bleibt, finde ich beeindruckend. Schade, dass die Missionen auf die Dauer so eintönig sind. Als Deutscher fliegen Sie permanent Begleitschutz für die Bomber. Genau diese Verbände greifen Sie als Engländer stets und ständig an. Außerdem kann ich nicht verstehen, warum die Kampagnenkarte derart spartanisch ausfallen musste. Unter den aktuellen Flugsimulationen nimmt Adlertag durch seine Massenschlachten dennoch eine Sonderstellung ein. Fans des Szenarios sollten sich die Giganto-Gefechte deshalb auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen.

If you are a fan of flight simulators, especially of WWII, by all means get this game. Be forewarned, it is difficult to get the hang of, but once learned and understood, it is quite a lot of fun. I would say this game is aimed more at the hard core fan, casual gamers should look elsewhere for their flight time, until they are ready to take to the skies over Britain.

Windpocken oder Armbruch? Die Frage, was den Grafiker wohl von seiner Arbeit abgehalten hat, drängt sich unweigerlich auf, wenn man nach dem Start von Adlertag mit den hübsch hässlichen Menüs konfrontiert wird. Unverdrossen startet man einen Schnelleinsatz und kurz darauf den Motor der Spitfire, die einen in den bleihaltigen Himmel über England bringt.

Pour conclure, Battle Of Britain est un jeu complet, il réussit le croisement entre jeu de simulation et stratégie. Certes les qualités techniques en matière de simulation aérienne sont en dessous des jeux actuels mais l'aspect stratégique relance l'intérêt d'un tel soft. C'est un jeu qui s'impose aux inconditionnels de la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale et aux amoureux de stratégie en général. Les passionnés de simulations pourront quant à eux y trouver de bonnes sensations, mais pourront être déçu par la jouabilité pas toujours évidente et par un graphisme parfois choquant.

Ce n'est certainement pas Battle of Britain qui fera venir le wargame dans les bonnes grâces du grand public. Une interface lourde et complexe le rend long à maîtriser et le manque d'interactivité se ressent. Battle of Britain se destine particulièrement aux férus de ce genre de jeu à cause de la véracité du background et de la justesse historique.
