DescriptionRugby 15 is a rugby game with licenses for the clubs in the Top 14, Pro D2, Aviva Premiership and Pro12 competitions. Each team also has its own in-game stadium. The official statistics for the 2014-2015 season as well as the real players and jerseys are present. For the developer it is the first rugby game since Rugby World Cup 2011 and the title is a throwback to when they developed the rugby games for Electronic Arts, with Rugby 08 as the last title. For the sport in general it is the first licensed rugby game since the 2013 title Rugby Challenge 2.
The game offers individual matches or in any of the licensed competitions, with support for custom ones and specific rules. Up to four players can participate in a local match, but there is no support for online multiplayer. There is no career mode or team and player customization options. The game rules are taught through static information screens and in-game tips as there is no tutorial. Each individual player can be controlled during matches and there are multiple difficulty options. In-game commentary is provided by Stuart Barnes and Miles Harrison.
Rather than a simulation the game offers an arcade approach and players can perform moves such as sidesteps, hand-offs, pop passes, shoulder charges, grubber kicks, drop goals and tackles. More complex moves such as cross passes, up-and-unders and behind-the-back passes are also supported. Teams can be managed during or before and after matches with various statistics available. The team formation can also be changed quickly.
