Aztec is the latest in Cryo's excellent historical interactive fiction series. Like its earlier historical excursions through Egypt, Versailles, and China's Forbidden City, Aztec is a fictional story in a setting that's just brimming with authentic historical detail.

If you are a gamer who squirms at the notion of an educational game, forget your qualms. Here you can learn as much or as little as you want. No unwanted information is forced upon you, but it is there at your fingertips, comprehensible and illustrated with pictures. The encyclopedia mode contains all the historical facts about the religion, government, culture, art, commerce and everyday life of the Aztec people. It makes interesting reading, informative without being pretentious.

Aztec à une double fonction. Ludique d'une part... et encyclopédique d'autre part. Le jeu en lui-même n'est pas formidable, mais ça se comprend. Il est clair que les "hardcore gamers" n'y trouveront pas leur compte. Si, de plus, les civilisations anciennes et la lecture vous gonflent, passez votre chemin. Les autres apprécieront la richesse documentaire d'Aztec, et la qualité graphique d'exception. Une réussite !

Czas szybko bieży, kończyć już muszę. Podsumowanie będzie takie – jeśli szukasz niezbyt trudnej, fajnej gry o niewygórowanej cenie, w którą mógłbyś sobie pograć jeden czy dwa wieczory, wybierz Azteca. Jeśli interesuje Cię historia, a w szczególności historia ludów prekolumbijskich – pozycja obowiązkowa.

Overall, an excellent edutainment title: successfully combining entertainment elements with unobtrusive educational features. Graphics were spectacular. Rewarding cut-scenes were interspersed throughout the game. Experienced gamers will find the puzzles too easy. Appropriate for younger gamers.

Aztec очень характерен для Cryo — довольно симпатичная графика на фоне вялого, порой жутко скучного игрового процесса. И даже 50 персонажей, призванных развлекать нас по ходу игры, не слишком оживляют общую картину. Процесс не затягивает, но в первый, а иногда даже во второй раз побродить по древним поселениям наших высокоразвитых друзей вполне увлекательно. Как и большинство подобных игр, Aztec — одноразовый проект.

Jeżeli jesteś nieco znudzonym miłośnikiem przygodówek, to gra Aztec jest przeznaczona właśnie dla ciebie. Po tytuł ten nie powinny natomiast sięgać osoby szukające kunsztownej grafiki i wymagającej wzmożonego wysiłku intelektualnego fabuły. Gra jest przeznaczona raczej dla młodszych graczy. CD Projekt postarał się o lokalizację, co znacznie ułatwi zabawę osom nie znającym języka angielskiego. Ostatecznie plusa do trójki przyznałem właśnie za polską wersję i możliwość poszerzenia swej wiedzy.

Because of its relative simplicity (this game really does take you by the hand and lead you gently through the story) Aztec is best suited to younger players who will find some interesting and entertaining challenges and learn about Aztec life in the process. Conversely, more experienced adventurers will likely find it too easy and too simplistic as an adventure game, although the chance to leisurely experience a little of Aztec life might just be that relaxing diversionary trip that you're looking for.

Alljährlich beglückt uns Cryo mit einem neuen "historischen" Abenteuer. Obwohl von der gleichen Machart wie Versailles und Verrat in der verbotenen Stadt sind die Systemanforderungen nun höher, der Langeweile-Faktor aber bleibt der gleiche. Die Story um Kleine Schlange wird unspannend, die Umherklickerei mit dem wenig gelungenen Karten-Modus bald sehr ermüdend. Interessieren Sie sich für die Azteken, finden Sie eine Menge Infos - ein Fachbuch indes dürfte billiger und erschöpfender sein. So könnte Der Fluch der Azteken übler ausfallen: Montezumas Rache jedenfalls ist schlimmer.

Bei dem langatmigen Adventure handelt es sich um den Nachfolger von Das Grab des Pharao. Wieder einmal wird der Spieler zu Unrecht des Mordes verdächtigt, wieder einmal muss er zirka 20 Gegenstände finden und auf teils unlogische Weise miteinander verbinden. Die Bedienung ist ausgesprochen zäh, da man sich wie in den alten interaktiven Spielfilmen nur in großen Sprüngen und auf vorgeschriebenen Bahnen bewegen kann. Nur selten kann man Objekte anklicken und meist führt dies dann zu einem langweiligen Enzyklopädietext. Als Lernsoftware mag Der Fluch der Azteken akzeptabel sein, als Spiel ist er leider völlig indiskutabel.
