Just Adventure
So where does that leave us? With a wonderfully written meta-puzzle with good game play balance and excellent re-playability. Add to that the Independent Developer's Bonus and I come up with a solid "A-". If you like puzzle games, then you will want to buy Scavenger Hunter.

Normally, lack of story is a negative for me. But the ever-changing nature of this game uses that negative in a positive manner. This game can be played intensely or dipped into while waiting for the latest-and-greatest to arrive. Since there is no detailed story to remember, time between gaming sessions is not critical. In addition, the broad range of puzzles makes it a good choice for family play. At day’s end, Scavenger Hunter rewards the dedicated agent with a well earned rest and issues an invitation to come back and do it all over again.

Adventure Island

Available directly from the developer's website (along with a playable demo for those who'd prefer to sample the game first), Scavenger Hunter deserves attention for taking a fresh approach in a genre that doesn't often allow for innovation, and if Sagewood Software can match the replayability with a more complex game design in future, they could well be onto a winner. Unfortunately, once one looks behind the novelty here, there's not much to recommend this particular game. As it stands, Scavenger Hunter is something of a noble but failed experiment: it's ambitious, it's novel, and there's some entertainment to be found, but its appeal just isn't strong enough to make you want to keep playing "The Replayable Adventure" for long.
