Sega Rally Championship

Grafisch kann Sega Rally mit seinem schärften Konkurrenzen Bleifuß 2 auf alle Fälle gleichziehen - vor allem die hohe Geschwindigkeit kann begeistern. Das Gameplay läßt ebenfalls kaum Wünsche offen, schließlich wird dem Spieler in puncto Steuerung die größtmögliche Freiheit gegeben. Deshalb bleibt eigentlich nur ein Kritikpunkt offen, der sich aber zumindest teilweise entkräften läßt: Sega Rally verfügt nur über vier Kurse, inklusive einer Bonusstrecke.

Sega Rally is a great game to have in your library. If you already own it for Saturn, then it probably wouldn't be worthwhile to purchase it for the computer, unless you have an undying urge to play against someone over the internet (although Saturn owners can do so with the new NetLink version coming out soon). The graphics are a bit better, but unless you have a computer that runs at 200 MHZ with 32 MB RAM, I doubt you'll enjoy full screen action in the higher resolution mode. The game may have gotten an overall score of five if there would have been a few more courses to spice up the action. This is a highly recommended game, but only if you have a computer powerful enough to handle the demanding graphics. Way to go Sega!

This game, though it excited me for a couple days and brought back my long-lost dreams of Paris-Dakkar, didn't turn out to be interesting or robust enough to totally ease my pain at not yet having accomplished that goal. After week one I changed the difficulty setting to the highest level, which makes other cars faster and gives you less time to finish the course. That kept me interested for a little bit longer, but unless you're the type of person who can shovel quarters into an arcade game for weeks on end, I'd bet that the limited variety of this game will cause you to archive the CD before you're good enough to get first place.

Sega Rally Championship is an excellent conversion of one of the best racing games around but if you own the original it is simply not worth purchasing this revision.

Sega hat seit dem verunglückten Daytona USA kräftig dazugelernt, so wurde der Grafikaufbau nachhaltig beschleunigt. Zwar werden vereinzelte Bildsegmente immer noch zu spät eingeblendet, dafür bewegen sich die Wagen deutlich flüssiger durch die Landschaft. Ein doppeltes Lob haben sich die Programmierer für die erstklassige Steuerung verdient. Selbst im ruckeligen Highcolor-Modus lassen sich die Boliden immer noch einwandfrei handhaben. Dabei werden auch kleinere Fahrfehler großzügig vergeben.

Na enkele dagen achter het stuur te hebben gezeten kwam Sega Rally Championship mij gewoonweg de strot uit. Daarom heb ik ook geen seconde geaarzeld om het te verwijderen van mijn harde schijf.
