Miłośnicy gier z "pewną dozą pomyślunku", którzy nie lubią rozrywki nie zakrzywiającej fal mózgowych mogą stwierdzić, że Serious Sam jest szmirą i beznadzieją - to nadmiar ambicji. Z kolei miłośnicy czystej, bezinteresownej rozrywki będą bardzo zadowoleni z powodu ukazania się tego tytułu. Teraz ponownie mają szansę na doskonałą zabawę bez niepotrzebnych, rozpraszających jedynie uwagę, dodatków. Grę ze względu na jej charakter poleciłbym osobom prowadzącym nerwowy i szybki tryb życia oraz przepracowanym ludziom... takim ja ja. Serious Sam włączony podczas przerwy obiadowej pozwoli na wyładowanie niepotrzebnej, kumulującej się frustracji i złości na szefa. Ta gra, jeżeli niesie coś ze sobą, to na pewno czystą, pełną bardzo dynamicznej akcji rozrywkę. I właśnie miłośnikom takich pozycji poleciłbym ten tytuł.

Hordes of great first-person shooters have thrilled gamers since Doom, but few have recaptured the frantic in-your-face mayhem of that groundbreaking game -until now. Serious Sam has some of the most exciting and addictive shooting action in years.

But is this game for you? After reading this far, I am sure you know the answer already. This game has a specific audience and will no doubt not appeal to some people out there. However, most people will get a kick out of the simplistic frantic nature of the game - it's actually good fun. Not adventuring, not problem solving, nothing to do with puzzles or running around collecting things, just plain old "I can't wait to tell the guys at work about *that* bit!" type fun. A breath of fresh air and highly recommended.

While it's nothing revolutionary, Serious Sam is something I haven't seen in a while. It's a game that's unabashedly a blast-fest, and a good blast-fest at that. While the lack of variety in the environments may irritate some, and those looking for a deep plot with their gunning definitely need to look elsewhere, the rest of us old-school DooM fans should make sure not to pass up Serious Sam. Priced amazingly reasonably, it's something no hardcore gamer should be without.

Serious Sam isn't particularly intelligent or even enormously original, but if you are looking for a game where you can disengage your brain and indulge in some good old fashioned wholesale slaughter then this is about as good as they come. The button pounding action is the most frantic you will find this side of an arcade shooter, the graphics second only to the likes of Quake 3, and the brightly lit Egyptian scenery a refreshing change from the norm.

As the final score reflects, this game is more than just its parts. Take it for what it is -- a pure action shooter -- and you'll absolutely love it. It's not deep, but it's a solid shooter that packs in a lot of action for under $20...and that's hard to beat.

Call me a glutton for punishment, but I've never been so addicted to a shooter. Maybe it's the fact the game keeps hammering me, but I can't get enough. I can't tell you how many times I muttered "this is ridiculous" or "you've got to be kidding" while playing the game, but I still love it. Serious Sam is a serious shooter -- wimps and momma's boys need not apply.

Wer eine lange Herausforderung sucht und sich wochenlang mit dem Game beschäftigen möchte, ist hier leider falsch: Serious Sam ist der Shooter für zwischendurch - ein Game, das auch in der Spielhalle stehen könnte. Ein guter Spieler hat Serious Sam innerhalb eines Tages durchgespielt. Bei dem Preis des Spieles (ca. DM 50) bekommt man aber einen wirklich guten Spielspaßwert geliefert: Eine fantastische Grafik, die auch auf etwas betagteren Systemen noch sehr gut läuft, Balleraction vom Feinsten, eine tolle Soundkulisse und eine Menge Humor.

Serious Sam is essentially perfect for what it is. It's a great looking, fun-filled game that has plenty of visceral thrills and absolutely, positively the biggest battles in any shooter to date. Its single-player mode has a lot of depth thanks to the numerous secrets hidden in each level and the different difficulty options available. And the game's multiplayer mode, especially the cooperative option, rivals that of the most popular shooters available.

This game's got me going "Operation Wolf" style, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any arcade shooter fan out there. It actually lives up to the hype, and even surpass is it if you can believe that. Now, how many times have you seen something like that happen in this industry? Oh, and did I mention the $14.95 price tag?

Serious Sam ist wie gesagt kein intelligenter oder „anspruchsvoller“ Ego-Shooter, aber durch sein einfaches Spielprinzip unterhält er sehr gut. Vor allem der Co-op Modus ist klasse.

The debate raged long and hard here about how to grade Serious Sam. It's not the most prolific game released recently, and with some real zeal you can probably thrust through it in a matter of hours, not days. But for the price -- G.o.D. is asking $20.00 -- and the sheer fun of it all, Serious Sam is well-worth the twenty-spot. Go grab the demo, and then the game. You won't be disappointed!

With all this said, is "Serious Sam" a game that one should consider? Yes. Though this game features cartoon-like violence with human creatures to kill, these shortcomings are all culturally based (who says cartoon violence isn't bloody or shocking? and who says we only have to kill humans?). Do not make the initial mistakes many have made; do not underestimate this game based on your current need to play only the most realistic games on your powerhouse of a computer. Right is right. Fun is fun. And "Serious Sam" will entertain gamers in single play mode or in of the various multiplayer modes available. Conversely, do not read too much into this review. It is long and praises a game that brings life into the scene. However, "Serious Sam" will not win game of the year; it just isn't that good.

Serious Sam plays a lot like Doom, but with more enemies. Way more. Like, the most EVER. And they just keep coming and coming, like roaches to a donut. You just blast away like a madman...and it's lots of fun. Part of the fun is that the enemy types are just bizarre. At one point, a headless mutant with bombs in place of his hands comes screaming over the edge of a bluff. You blow him away...only to then hear about 30 more screams as a wave of his brethren come billowing forth. The sheer mania of thousands of enemies swarming your way is a gas, and they never really let the foot off the pedal.

Serious Sam is geen shooter voor gamers die graag wat tactiek of diepgang in de stijl van Thief of Deus Ex zien, maar zelfs zij zouden dit game toch minstens éénmaal moeten proberen.

Serious Sam ist das Spiel- Pendant zu »Drei Engel für Charlie«: fette Action, rasend schnell, kurz und göttlich unterhaltsam. Ich empfinde es fast schon als revolutionär, dass ein Entwickler ein derart geradliniges Produkt auf den Markt bringt – jeder andere versucht, möglichst viele Genres in ein Spiel zu quetschen. Doch hier steht das Ballern konsequent an erster Stelle. Und durch die Comichafte Karikierung der Gewalt kann man die Action und das (abschaltbare) Blut auch beim besten Willen nicht ernst nehmen. Falls es Ihnen nach Kopfnüssen gelüstet, sollten Sie zu NOLF greifen. Wenn Sie allerdings Action pur bevorzugen, dann gibt es derzeit zu Serious Sam keine Alternative.

Serious Sam est un jeu unique qui nous rappelle la bonne vieille époque des sharewares : un pur Doom-like rapide, fun, défoulant, avec un mode multijoueurs motivant et pour couronner le tout, à un prix inférieur à 200 Francs. Tous les fans de Doom-like se doivent de posséder ce bijou qui reprend et remet à l'ordre du jour tous les ingrédients d'un pur shooter. Il tentera même, à ce prix là, de séduire les adeptes occasionnels de jeux de massacre, tant le héros est un mélange subtil de second degré et de... charisme.

Serious Sam: The First Encounter is one game that no action fan should be without. It's a dose of pure adrenaline that will perk up old-timers in ways not seen since DOOM hit 386s everywhere in late 1993. It's an absolute steal at $20, and it comes complete with the full developer's kit—meaning that user-designed missions and mods will probably be showing up online any day now. Seriously.

Serious Sam constitue réellement une très bonne surprise, un Quake-like captivant même en solo, qui bénéficie d'une ambiance originale, gore et violente, et d'un humour particulier à prendre au second degré. Une expérience jouissive à ne pas rater pour quiconque apprécie l'action avec un grand A.

Hoch leben die Gehirnaputierten. Serious Sam ist Futter für die Action-Götter. Ratter, brutzel, zisch....buuuum: Endlich glühen mal wieder wirklich alle Waffenmündungen auf Volldampf. Doch wie im echten Leben, ist auch im Spiel der Ägypten-Urlaub eindeutig zu kurz. Profis erledigen die Abenteuersafari an einem Tag. Zum Glück verlangt Take 2 nicht den vollen Preis für diesen Wochenendausflug. Wen das nicht stört, bekommt, was er verdient: Gnaden- und schnörkellose Action.

Hou je niet van al dat nadenken en wil je eens stevig de Rambo uithangen, dan is SS zeker iets voor jou!

Serious Sam is als een hamburger; lekker voor het moment maar als je hem op hebt, ben je eigenlijk vergeten wat je weg hebt gehapt. Gewoon effe lekker ongecompliceerd knallen dus.

Już na początku gry wita nas logo uśmiechniętej bomby dając nam tym samym do zrozumienia, że nie należy jej traktować zbyt poważnie i że humor będzie spełniał w niej dość istotną rolę. No dobrze, co dalej? Ustawiamy klawiszologię, poziom trudności i zaczynamy. Pierwsza rzecz, która przykuwa uwagę to punkty - za zabicie przeciwnika uzyskuje się pewną ich ilość, jednak to ile ich otrzymamy nie nadaje się tak naprawdę do niczego, chyba tylko po to, aby po skończeniu gry pokazać kolegom, ile się „ugrało” na danym poziomie trudności. Fabuła związana jest z pradawnym Egiptem tak więc akcja umiejscowiona została w świecie gdzie niepodzielnie królują monumentalne i niezwykle tajemnicze piramidy. Gracz przemierza kolejne obszary w poszukiwaniu różnych artefaktów z przeszłości, które to mogą mieć związek (a jakże by!!!) z kosmitami.

Im Vorspann irritiert zunächst eine kindliche Klimpermusik, die dann jäh verstummt und für Berufsrambo Serious Sam Platz macht. Der zückt eine gewaltige Kanone und feuert kreuz und quer in alle Richtungen. Noch nie wurde das Spielprinzip in einer Einleitungssequenz so treffend beschrieben wie hier: Ballern ohne Kompromisse - immerhin mit abgedrehten Widersachern wie kopflosen Soldaten, durchgedrehten Stieren oder Riesenskorpionen. Letztere werden mittels Knarren, Schrotflinten und Energiewaffen entsorgt, eben lauter typische Waffen, die man mit etwas Erfahrung mit Konkurrenzprodukten bereits aus dem Effeff beherrscht.

Croteams shooter har prisats som en värdig kopia av klassiska Doom. Spelet började som en garageproduktion av en hittills okänd utvecklare och resultatet är fantastiskt, för att vara en garageproduktion. Trots produktens bakgrund måste det mätas med samma måttstock som övriga spel och då blir det inte lika imponerande längre.
