Cheat Code Central
Upon clearing a world in Story mode, that block of stages is made available for quick play. Finish the game and you'll unlock Boss Rush mode, which allows you to face off against Shatter's delightful enemies. There's also an Unlimited mode that keeps refreshing bricks, a Time Trial mode, and even co-op versions of each. Your performance is tracked with online leaderboards, and there's even a selection of Achievement-inspired trophies. In short, there's a ton of content to be found in Shatter, whether you're playing alone or with a friend. Shatter isn't the world's most innovative game - rather, it's a loving take on a time-honored gameplay style. But, unlike many of the other games that pay homage to classic titles like Breakout, Shatter has enough original ideas that you'll never feel like you're playing more of the same. Shatter is a brilliant expansion to traditional arcade-style gameplay, and how often can you say that a new contender has improved on a classic?
In short, Shatter is a really enjoyable re-imagining of a time-tested genre that adds the fun of physics, snazzy graphics, and a phenomenal soundtrack to a favorite classic. If you liked Arkanoid or have even just the smallest smidgen of interest in the brick-breaking genre, you’d be doing yourself a favor to give Shatter a spin if you haven’t done so already.
In closing, if you are a fan of this genre then you will love Shatter to bits (bad joke, I know), but even if you don't like these 'break out' type affairs, giving Shatter a go would really be worth your time. This title brings enough new features along with it to make it fresher than the competition. It also offers a good amount of replay-ability with the unlock-able extra modes and the Co-Op Multiplayer. All in all a fun game that can be picked up pretty cheaply from the Steam store. Go on, have a go.
Retro Spirit Games
Shatter comes highly recommended and is an inventive and brilliant new take on one of the oldest game genres around.
Shatter wears its retro inspiration proudly in its visuals, and in the simple bleeps and bloops that serve as the occasional sound effects, but you don't need to be a fan of the games that inspired it or old enough to remember when they were introduced to enjoy Shatter. It's that rare game that builds on existing concepts in such a way as to create something entirely new while holding onto what made those concepts so compelling in the first place. Priced at $9.99, Shatter's irresistible action and the fact that it constantly taunts you with the next highest score on a Steam friend's leaderboard will make it an experience you'll keep coming back to long after you've smashed the final boss into a million little pieces.
PC Gameplay (Benelux)
Shatter is Breakout² en staat voor pure fun met af en toe een beetje frustratie. Ideaal om in kleine porties te nuttigen!
