Game Vortex
The game looks (and somewhat plays) alot like Final Fantasy VII. The backgrounds look real and are textured beautifully. All of the graphics are extraordinary, except for the actual characters. We get to play with the blocky, non-detailed, short, stubby, cartoon looking characters. You know, the no fingers, block-for-a-hand type people. Which, as it turns out, really isn't that bad, because most of the game (and all of the combat) is played from an expanded view, so detail isn't that important. Also, the speech is kinda corny, but I guess it fits with the action. Overall, I would say that the graphics were good, if you don't mind the 'FF 7'

Game Over Online
It is becoming increasingly rare to see something in a game that hasn't been done before. Sure, there are some new graphic effects every six months but as far as gameplay goes, things are becoming a bit stale. It seems as if everything that can be done, has been done. Silver is something new, not revolutionary but new. Silver combines RPG with elements from both the action and adventure genres. The outcome is quite pleasing.

So we have a game before us that has a lot going for it -- excellent visuals, superb audio, and an engrossing storyline. We have three attributes that usually make a great game, but we have a game that tries to be three different games as well. It has the adventure and limited role-playing aspects down okay; it's the excruciating combat sequences that often killed my mood. The wacky character control, the real-time strategy feel (confusing in a game of this type), and the almost arcade-reflex skills needed to progress through the story contributed to my disappointment. Additionally, since the amount of time spent in combat is so large compared to "adventuring," this shortcoming becomes frustrating. If only they had included the option of turn-based combat (ala Final Fantasy), I would have heralded this as one of the better plays of the year. . . but alas, my search goes on.

Overall, this is a fun, high-quality game. If you're entranced by wonderful sound, graphics, and interface, you can probably overlook the handful of flaws in Silver and give it a shot.

For some strange reason, many people have compared Silver to Final Fantasy VII. In this case, that's a bit like comparing a Ford Mustang and a Chevy Impala - they both have wheels and an engine, but that's where the similarities end. The only similarity between the two games is the general Japanese-y look and feel of the graphics - 3D characters with big heads, small bodies, and huge swords against 2D pre-rendered backgrounds.

Silver is simplified by the removal or retooling of much of the complex stat-based baggage of its console RPG brethren.

Things look good on the surface, but there's baser metal underneath.

Seriøse mangler i gameplayet ødelægger desværre helhedsindtrykket.

Da Gameboyz
Silver is a high fantasy top down adventure game. It involves one main character "David" whose quest is to save the women of the towns of this fantasy world from the evil Silver. Silver, a sinister sorcerer has captured all the women to sacrifice them to the demi-god Apocalypse. In return he will receive ultimate power over the universe. David proceeds to collect 8 mystical orbs to defeat Silver by recruiting allies and learning new attacks.

Silver's a good game, especially for beginners. Those who want freedom and millions of stats are going to be thoroughly disappointed, but for the casual gamer who might need an introduction to RPGs, this is pretty much the game.

It never fails - some dictator gnarled with pure evil kills his wife and then decides that he needs a young and nubile woman from the community he rules over to bear him a new son. So what does he do? He rounds up every woman, both single and married, from the kingdom and has them locked up so that he can look them over at his leisure and choose one. Naturally, the one he chooses will likely be yours, if you're a young, hot-headed, virile male hero named David in a role-playing game called Silver.

G4 TV: The Electric Playground
Let’s not beat around the proverbial bush, here. The moment you lay your eyes on Silver, an action/RPG from the Infogrames design team in the U.K., you’ll immediately recognize strong similarities to Squaresoft’s Final Fantasy VII: an epic story with plenty of dialogue, anime-like characters with weapons way too big for their bodies and a party-based combat system. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as there hasn’t been a good console-esque RPG for the PC in a while, but the game falls short in a few critical areas that tend to add up in the end.

Adrenaline Vault, The (AVault)
As mankind emerges into the new millennium, unnecessary complexity and superficial detail seem to be the order of the day. We surround ourselves with electronic devices that we don't need, luxuries that we can't afford, and responsibilities that we don't want. As computer gaming traditionally evolves alongside the society that feeds it, it too has taken to be filled with heightened complexity. While this occasionally nurtures the industry and helps it to grow as a whole, it also has been used by the less ambitious to satisfy deadlines or to ride the coattails of a burgeoning niche. With this in mind, it is satisfying to find a title such as Silver that professes to carry itself with alternating detail and simplicity.

Just Adventure
Probably the worst aspect of the entire game, though, is that all of the characters always appear to be tiny, almost as if you are watching someone else play the game from afar. Even during cut scenes and battles, the characters remain small and faceless, and any potential drama is rendered ineffective by the inability to inject any personality unto these characters. Compounding the tedium is a forced linearity that leads you through the game by your nose and an unmemorable musical score. Not having played Silver on the PC, I am dumfounded by the excellent reviews I had read about this RPG/adventure. Needless to say, not all games survive the transition to another platform.
