Sonic R

Sigue manteniendo el mismo estilo que en anteriores versiones, pero mejorando su concepto. Muy divertido y muy sencillo, sin más pretensiones. Quizás está demasiado limitado en cuanto a las opciones que ofrece.

The phrase "ages 9 and up" comes into my head when thinking of SonicR. The graphics point to that age group as does the gameplay. At times the game presents hard to execute turns on the race track but other than that the difficulty is not very high. However, for some odd reason I enjoy and I guess I do fall in the "and up" category. SonicR is one of those games that you would just like to have around after your sick and tired of running pedestrians over (Carmageddon 2) or fed up with shooting monsters in the head (any one of a number of first person shooters).

SONIC R allie une bonne jouabilité avec une réalisation de qualité. On aurait bien aimé avoir plus de circuits. On note au passage quelques erreurs dans les traductions en français dans le logiciel ainsi que sur la notice.

Sonic R ist kurzweiliger Rennspaß, der Freunde des Knuddel-Igels schnell in seinen Bann zieht. Lange Winterabende verbringen Sie allerdings besser mit einer echten Rennsimulation.

Sonic R. is een typisch arcade-race spel zonder al die intelligente poespas. Het is absoluut geen hoogvlieger op welk vlak dan ook... maar het straalt een soort van nostalgisch sfeertje uit dat je keer op keer weer laat verder spelen.

Selbst wenn ich meine Kollegen aus dem Layout verstehen kann, die wegen der hirnerweichenden „Klingeling“- und „Quietsch“-Sounds genervt meine Bürotür zugeknallt haben, und selbst, wenn ich Musikstücke à la „fröhlicher Schlager-Pop“ hasse: Mir hat Sonic R Spaß gemacht, weil es schnell, witzig und einsteigerfreunlich ist. Trotzdem bleibt es nur ein netter Pausenfüller. Sonic-Fans und jüngere PC-Zocker dürften mit der Ferrari-Fassung des Igels richtig liegen.

Over all, the game was fun to play and visually nice. Though this is one game I won't become addicted to anytime soon. If you have a younger brother or sister, they'll probably enjoy and appreciate the game alot more than you do.

Da habe ich nicht schlecht gestaunt: Schon eine Dreiviertelstunde, nachdem ich das Spiel gestartet hatte, flimmerte mir der Abspann entgegen. Zwar preist Sega es als Rennspiel für Kinder an, aber muß das heißen, daß jeder es an einem Abend durchzockt? Fünf Kurse und fünf Charaktere sind einfach zu wenig. Strecken, Grafik und Sound tummeln sich bestenfalls im Mittelmaß.

Admit it -- no one wants to hear that a Sonic game could ever be less than decent. Well, the truth hurts but it has to be told. Sonic R shares the same common problems that other less-than-decent games seem to have that hinder gameplay in more than several ways. Sure, it's in 3D but eventually after playing it for awhile you're not going to bother continuing on.
