Perfektní dobrodružné rpg vás osvítí, pokud se odvážíte vstoupit do magického světa hry Spirit Engine. Střetnete se s vlkodlaky a mágy, budete hrdě nosit svou lesklou zbroj. Jen sekundy vás budou dělit od smrti. A když to budete nejméně čekat, přijde zvrat. Pozvedněte ruce a zašeptejte onu formuli. Vstupte!
Despite having a limited inventory system (you can't sell back the items you bought, you can only leave them in the garbage bin), being unbalanced and too simple in places, The Spirit Engine is a great game featuring an epic story, beautiful art, original music, awesome bosses and high replayability. As a whole, the game's quality rises to commercial standards. It's no wonder that the second installment in the series is now sold through popular online stores, such as Stardock's Impulse.
The Spirit Engine is a very unique RPG game. Instead of the top down angle most people are accustomed to, the game plays like a side-scroller. There are many features which make this game special, including the great customization options. Graphics and sounds in The Spirit Engine are wonderful, if not spectacular. Sadly, the game is not perfect, and has a few major failings.
As I said at the beginning of the review, you're probably better off purchasing The Spirit Engine 2. But if you want a free game, one that gives you a basic feel for what you'll experience in the much-improved sequel, you have nothing to lose (other than time and a bit of hard drive space). I enjoyed playing through the game, but its remaining so unrefined hurts it on an objective level. Fans of independent developers will almost definitely enjoying messing around with this game, but "mainstream" gamers may not see what's so special about it. The sequel, however, might just win over even the most eye-candy-addicted Square Enix nut of an RPG Fan.
I'm sure hardcore RPG fans may absolutely love The Spirit Engine, heck, I still sort of enjoyed it, but any sort of critical analysis will reveal how plain it really is.
