Vaikka Star Trek: Borg todistaakin, että hyvää multimediasaastaa voi tehdä, kaava tuskin toimii muuten kuin juuri Star Trekin kaltaisten ilmiöiden kylkiäisenä. Ilman maailman suosituimman TV-sarjan sivustatukea ei tämänkään tasoiselle viritykselle löytyisi ostajia.

Star Trek: Borg is basically a very well made 'choose your own adventure' video. The magic tricorder also gives it enough depth to get rid of some of the linearity. Star Trek fans who would give anything to see just one more episode: this is the game for you! It also includes the 'Picard Dossier', an interactive guide to the Borg for the die-hard trekkie. But, by its nature, this game is going to have limited appeal. People unfamiliar with Star Trek probably won't enjoy it, but then, people unfamiliar with Star Trek probably aren't reading this review either.

Science Fiction Weekly
This game suffers from a Jekyll and Hyde complex, for it is rife with both good and evil. Everything on the filming side -- shots, pacing, sets -- is right on, looking and sounding terrific. The dialog is natural and mercifully free of technobabble. All the acting is sincere and engaging, and John de Lancie goes to town as the sarcastic and meddling Q, always around to kibitz and annoy. He makes this game.

Borg is a decent product, but one that's hard to recommend. It's too short for 3 CDs, there's too little content for Trek fans, and it's too easy for veteran gamers. The story is also nothing revolutionary and can be skipped. The game has its high points, like nice production values and de Lancie's performance, but no one's really going to walk away from this a winner. You're buying one measly hour of average Trek material with extremely limited replayability. Even if you get it for a cheap, used price, you'll still feel cheated.

If it weren't for the awesome video quality and excellent acting throughout the game, I would have tossed Star Trek: Borg aside in a matter of moments. There's something about actually being placed in the Star Trek environment that makes this game play better than others in its genre. Q is certainly the highlight of the game. He makes the most tedious tasks interesting, and I guarantee you'll be chuckling at what he says. If you like this type of game, or must own every Star Trek item available, you'll want to pick this title up. I enjoyed playing it, but it's a bit too short for my own tastes (and wallet).
