Originally titled Star Trek: Insurrection, the game's name was changed to Hidden Evil to distinguish the fact it had a plotline which was different from that of the movie's.

The white robe clad Xa'tal actually appeared in the Next Generation TV series in the episode "The Chase", although as a holographic projection. Xa'tal is played by Salome Jens, who also appeared as the Ruler of the Dominion in the Deep Space Nine series.

Besides Picard and Data, the S'ona second-in-command Gallatin also makes a brief appearance, and is voiced by the original actor from the movie (Gregg Henry). Anij, Picard's love interest from Insurrection, also makes an appearance, but she's voiced by a different actor than the one who appeared in the movie (understandable, since she only gets about two lines).
