Real Developer
Mark James (24), Oct 02, 2007
User AvatarThis project was actually orginally developed by a Bath based company called Binary Asylum. Interplay then moved the project to 14 degrees east

that's already mentioned

it was released as "14 degrees east" developed this game, that the way it goes.

User AvatarNo, it doesn't matter. If they worked on the game they should be credited for it in some way.

User AvatarThat's right. We just need to decide if the game should have two developers or if either one is going to be credited with "Additional development".

User AvatarI'd say co-development for both here.

hmm, ok...

i think he was referring to release info. if a game gets removed from developer by publisher and then the new developer finishes the project then how can we tell how much each companies did? co-development is when they were developing it together.

does anybody know games with similar scenario?

this "Additional development", that's a part of the credits? i thought that we don't add partial entries to credits, only full credits, one-on-one with a manual. this game doesn't seem like having that kind of note in manual.

this is so "trivia" item.

No, it isn't part of the credits, it is part of the release info stuff.

I don't think so. If a two developers worked in a game, unless the second one did throw everything away and built the game from scratch, they need both to be credited. It really depends on how much one of those companies worked on the game. If there's one which worked really more on it, the other should get "Additional development". If not, both should be credited as regular developers.

"Interplay removed them from the project"

what could be reason that interplay removed them? maybe they could keep up with deadlines. probably payed fines and that the reason for bankrupcy. so, this doesn't look like co-developing at all. what was a status when they gave resources over, alpha, beta? who knows?

does it look like additional developement and not a trivia item then too?

if we add more release info about other countries, do we add them as additional developers also on every single release info?

smells like trivia

Whatever their reason, the game had obviously spent time at another developer.

In fact, we know just as little about 14 Degrees' involvement, only that they took it over at some stage.

You mean just as we add who develop the game and the sound engine to each release item? Yes.

Smells like release info, since this is where companies related to development and publishing are put. Trivia is for clarifying the release info.

ok, clear, is this how we have done it before with similar cases?

User AvatarYes, check all those "modded" Tec Toy games I added, you'll see a lot of "Additional development" and trivia items to explain what's going on there.

User AvatarYeah, it really stinks that you work on a title for 3 years then someone else get's to put their name on the box
