How much you'll enjoy Elite Force Expansion Pack depends greatly on what you're looking for. If you're a single-player nut looking for a new story and new bad guys to face, you just won't find it here. Don't believe anything you read about the two advertised single-player campaigns -- they're really just a few holodeck levels that have nothing to do with the original story. However, if you're a Voyager nut drooling at the opportunity to explore every nook and cranny of the ship...or are an Elite Force multiplayer junkie looking for some variety, then this Expansion Pack is exactly what you're looking for. It's a perfect compliment to the original game, loaded with features that we can only wish had been included from the start.

I can't figure out what made them decide to connect such a mediocre feature as the Virtual Voyager with such a strong game as Elite Force. I think it must be because they wanted to beef up what they were giving customers, which also explains the wallpaper add-ons. But even with that, calling this release an Expansion Pack is overstating things -- it's really more of a module or add-on. But it is only $20 and the multiplayer options make it worth the price.

The absolute best thing about this expansion pack is that it made me want to replay the original game - which I did, just to get the taste of the Expansion pack out of my mouth. I can not see myself ever loading up the Expansion pack to play the new stuff ever again, but I know I will replay the original someday soon just for the fun of it. Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force Expansion feels and plays like a rushed money grab - Raven is better than this and should have walked away.

Elite Force managed to maintain an air of mainstream respectability thanks to a driving storyline. With that taken away, the mainstream has been relegated in favour of a 'one for the boys' approach. If you can name the entire crew of the Voyager and most of the episodes, then put down your model phaser and grab this with both hands. If, like the rest of us, you've moved on - this won't be beaming on to your hard drive upon its release. They've tried to do something different with a plain old mission disc, and it isn't going to work for anyone.

The decision to not make a straightforward add-on pack is commendable, and being able to explore Voyager is a geek's dream, but is there really enough here to fill an entire add-on? Unless you're a devoted fan of the show, or are still playing multiplayer Elite Force to death, I'd have to say no. The crowd of you out there that bought the original because it was a great shooter that also took place in the Star Trek universe are going to be disappointed, and overall, all of you are going to be disappointed in the lack of the stuff that made the original so great. This isn't so much an add-on as it is a completely different sort of game altogether, one that's simple and straightforward enough to make you antsy for the original again. Looks like you'll have to wait for the sequel for a true successor to Elite Force.

If this was just meant to be a multiplayer-focused expansion, then Virtual Voyager is a nice throw-in and a smart use of existing assets. But even if this was the intent (and who can say?) then it’s still a weak add-on for a limited slice of users. As far as I can tell, you don’t get a special bonus for completing all the tasks, and there’s very little to uncover anyway. I’m sure this was made by a limited team, and expecting more is probably asking too much, but it’s still barely worth your time. Voyager’s interesting enough to roam for an hour or so, but you’ll quickly wish more time had been spent on new areas, or giving you fun things to do.

As thrilling as the name sounds...(insert sarcastic “ba-dup-bum” here), you’re not getting much despite what appears to be an impressive features list. The best thing about this expansion pack is the multiplayer, and brother, that’s not saying much. In fact, you may even end up sullied from your original ELITE FORCE experience because of the shallowness of these single-player levels.

Game Revolution
Elite Force was great fun because of its strong single player action, story and gameplay. The Expansion Pack gives you next to nothing to extend that and decidedly shoots itself when the only missions you do get don't matter at all because they're just a great deal of light and sound within a larger context of light and sound, and that is just one too many levels of abstraction to be fun.
