Star Wars: Battlefront

Mit Battlefront hat mir LucasArts einen Jugendtraum erfüllt. Endlich kann ich mich mit den beiden Skywalkers und den anderen Krieg-der-Sterne-Promis in epische Gefechte stürzen. Vor allem die Schlacht um Hoth samt Taun-Tauns und Walkern hat mich schwer beeindruckt. Die Gefrechte machen mir trotz gelegentlich aussetzender KI im Solo-Modus einen Heidenspaß. Dazu tragen natürlich die Spitzen-Grafik und der opulente Sound einen nicht unwesentlichen Teil bei.

Activision und Lucas Arts haben mit Star Wars: Battlefront einen hervorragenden Online Shooter heraus gebracht, der ruhigen Gewissens auf dem Thron der Online Spiele zusammen mit Battlefield 1942/Vietnam Platz nehmen kann. So wird Star Wars: Battlefront ein wahres Actionhighlight für alle Star Wars Fans oder Spieler ohne Bedenken bei Sci-Fi Action sein, während die Battlefield Spiele weiter diejenigen begeistert, die mehr Wert auf Realismus legen.

Een kloon die alle goede, maar ook alle slechte eigenschappen van de Battlefield reeks overneemt.

Hoth, Mon Calamari, Kamino, Corellia, Alderaan, Tatooine. So heißen tatsächlich Planeten im Star Wars-Universum. Wie lächerlich! Ich habe daraus eine Geheimsprache gebastelt. Beispiel: "Vorm Kamino darf die lüsterne Alderaan zärtlich Mon Calamari massieren. Auch die versaute Corellia mit ihrem neckischen Tatooine auf dem Hintern ist ganz schön Hoth!" Zurück zum Thema! Battlefront hat mir im Einspieler-Modus große Freude bereitet, doch der Mehrspielerpart kann mit dem offensichtlichen Vorbild (EAs Battlefield-Reihe) nicht mithalten. Da ich seit meiner Kindheit allein spiele, ist mir das aber schnuppe!

Laserblitze zucken durch die Luft. Der Boden bebt unter den Schritten riesiger imperialer Geher. Ewoks flüchten vor den Stahlmonstern. Der Fall der letzten Rebellenhochburg auf Endor steht unmittelbar bevor. Doch Sie geben nicht auf. Während Ihre Kameraden die anrückenden Sturmtruppen beschäftigen, preschen Sie mit einem Speeder-Bike hinter die feindlichen Linien. Ihre Mission: die Eroberung eines feindlichen Stützpunktes. Mit ein paar gezielten Blaster-Schüssen schalten Sie die Wachen aus. Verstärkung ist glücklicherweise nicht in Sicht, Sie können die Basis also einnehmen.

Star Wars: Battlefront polecam głównie fanom sagi Gwiezdnych Wojen. Pasjonaci wieloosobowych strzelanek niech raczej zostaną przy Counterach, serii Call of Duty, Battlefield i innym podobnym tytułom. Na koniec napisze o ważnym elemencie życiowego sukcesu Georga Lucasa, który w opisywanym tytule trochę pominięto. Otóż, nie można wcielać się w postacie dysponujące mocami jak Jedi i Sith.

PC-version grafiikka on riittävän nättiä, vaikka ruudun elokuvatekniikkaa matkiva liikepehmennys ei minua miellytä. Animointi on ok-tasoa, vain hassuja, yliammuttuja kuolemakuperkeikkoja voisi hillitä. Kunnon osumaefektejä harrastetaan vain joissain aseissa, ja oman kuolemansa huomaa välillä siitä, että äkkiä tuijottaa pelihahmon valintaruutua. Järjenvastaisesti pelin ruudunpäivitys on vakiona rajattu 20 frameen sekunnissa. Sen voi nostaa huimaan 30 frameen, mutta ei sen yli.

Overall, Star Wars: Battlefront delivers a satisfying team-based shooter experience that many hardcore Star Wars fans will probably enjoy greatly. Ironically, though the PC version of the game is technically the best, it also faces the stiffest direct competition, because to many PC shooter fans the game may come off as old hat. After all, aside from the Star Wars universe, Battlefront doesn't deliver anything PC players haven't seen before, even though it's a solid game in its own right. The console versions of the game--especially the Xbox version--might seem more fresh and appealing to their respective audiences, who don't have as many choices in online team-based shooters.

Star Wars: Battlefront is een geweldige team-gebaseerde shooter die de Star Wars fans ongetwijfeld zullen smaken. De PC-versie van het spel is zonder meer de beste, maar zal anderzijds niet veel meer bieden dan de vorige versies van Battlefront.

It's darn good, but not without faults of its own. On Xbox and PlayStation, Battlefront offers a distinct style of play that has not yet been exploited or overdeveloped as it has on the PC. There's a very likable, very direct approach to its combat. It uses high quality visuals and sounds to implant a legitimately Star Wars experience into our heads, but it's careful to never beat us with the franchise. There are large, epic battles. There is a great emphasis on cooperation, and it's a very intuitive game. On PlayStation 2 and Xbox, all this works extremely well, despite its inherent AI and longevity shortcomings. On PC, unfortunately, the problems are all amplified by an overwhelming amount of competition that simply makes Battlefront look a bit simplistic.

When all is said and done, this is a decent game that captures the epic feel of the massive Star Wars universe in one box, but the delivery certainly leaves a lot to be improved upon. I wanted to love this game (what Star Wars fanatic wouldn't?), but the fact is that this game is good but not great. The game needed about another 3 to 6 months of development time to get some of the bugs worked out (specifically the AI and the weapons loadouts), but I have a feeling the pressure was on since they timed the game's release with the release of the original trilogy's DVD iteration. I guess we'll have to wait for at least one to two patches for this game to truly be done, which is monumentally disappointing.

Battlefront may have succeeded in presenting the life of a frontline soldier in war a little too well. Once you get past the glamour of those first few battles, all that's left is more of the same, battle after battle, war after war.

It's clear from the outset that the deeper you're immersed into Star Wars lore, the more you'll get out of Battlefront, but it's not a game entirely devoid of merit for non-fans. The game's multi-format roots make the game very accessible, as does the setting, so Battlefront could very easily be "My First Online Shooter" for quite a lot of people - and it will definitely ease people into the genre gently enough. Battlefront isn't going to win any Game Of The Year awards, let's not kid ourselves, and certainly doesn't do anything revolutionary with the genre - but it is an enjoyable, well put together title, with the odd flash of brilliance. Let's be frank - if you're not a Star Wars fan, you probably won't be buying this game. This one's unashamedly for the fanboys.

Lucasarts teamed up with Pandemic to bring us another installment from the familiar world of Star Wars. I know, I know, Star Wars games are like Star Trek Movies: you have a 50-50 chance that the game is going to suck or disappoint you (That's in my humble opinion, Star Trek fans; don't write me--I've got "Botany Bay" tattooed on my butt. Star Trek II ruled). Every so often, one of these games from a Galaxy Far, Far Away comes along and gives you a few moments of glory and fun. Such is Star Wars Battlefront.

Apesar de servir como uma inspiração interessante, a criação de novos mapas será um elemento decisivo para o sucesso de "Battlefront". Ainda não está claro se o game permitirá o uso de mapas feitos pela comunidade, mas tudo indica que não. Com poucas opções, a LucasArts vai precisar suar muito para fazer desse game o sucesso que "Battlefield" foi.

Clone de Battlefield, Battlefront a du mal à tenir la comparaison avec son modèle. Mal balancé au niveau des classes, avec des véhicules à la conduite peu gratifiante et pourtant ravageurs, le titre cumule les tares au point de se contenter d'être un gros jeu d'action plutôt primaire et bancal. En étant fan, Batllefront peut toujours jouer sur la corde sensible, mais il ne faudra pas être trop exigeant.

La différence entre Battlefront et un mauvais mod gratuit pour Battlefield joué sur une connexion RTC et un écran LCD préhistorique ? 55 euros. Après, c'est vous qui voyez.
