I find your lack of faith ... disturbing! :)
The Good
Hmmm .... in one word, lightsabers. This game is, to my knowledge, the first FPS to really implement melee weapons as more than a desperation weapon, ("Out of ammo!") or a weapon used to humiliate your opponent.("Hahahaha ... Got you with the axe, dude!") ... Raven Software did an excellent job here, but in my mind that's to be expected. (Heretic was an awesome FPS for its time) Sounds and music are excellent but that should be expected of any Star Wars game. Multiplayer is, to put it simply, rowdy. I can't say enough good things about this game.
The Bad
Hmmm ... I find it disturbing that, in the storyline, that mastery of the Force could be GIVEN to just anyone via a machine. But that's a personal gripe, and has no bearing on the quality of this game!
The Bottom Line
A must-own title, if you like first person shooters, or Star Wars, or both.
