This is a wonderful game and a great change from what is out there on the et. The great gameplay clearly out rates the average graphics. Once you start playing you won't want to stop. The interesting and challenging missions will keep you busy for many hours. This game is no walk in the park. It will take great skill to become the hero of the kingdom. What makes this game even more fun is the multiplayer action. I like how you can actually design your own fort and challenge all your friends. With that feature, each game will be different and it will be a mystery as to what your challengers will come out with next.

Stratosphere is interesting in that it is fairly unique and I think the concept is definitely good, but I was disappointed in much of the execution. The interface tutorial, for instance, is entirely non-interactive, and is boring and takes a long time to go through -- the press material touts an “interactive tutorial,” but I think they’re referring to the “career” aspect of the game, where you start out with small missions and work your way up. The learning curve, because it is such an unusual game, is quite high and by the time you actually figure out how to play it, you may be so bored and frustrated with it, as I was, that you don’t want to play it anyway.

By presenting us with the opportunity to build, pilot, and then take into combat a gargantuan floating fortress, Stratosphere stands out from the crowd by being a unique, albeit technically troubled, game.

I like this type of game because it requires a lot of strategy. You have to line up your units in the right places on top of your air-fortress. You have a wide variety of weapons to put on your fortress. You can build cannons, energy units with supply cannons and weaponry with power to work and repair units. One good thing this game came with is an in-game tutorial. A very easy one too, just takes a few minutes and you can learn how to play and then you can kill off your enemies.

Basically, Stratosphere is a game that immediately caught my eye and intrigued me with the promise of something new. Unfortunately, the game fails to deliver on that promise. It's not a bad game, and it can be quite fun when multiplayer mode works, but it just doesn't have the sort of gameplay to keep players coming back.

Stratosphere is a jack of many game features and styles; unfortunately it is master of none. The game would have been better served had it focussed on one area of gameplay. This could have been a great fortress-building game. The originality of this title deserves mentioning, as it is refreshing. The busy interface and uninspired 3D combat deserve mentioning as well. Overall Stratosphere is somewhat misguided in its approach and implementation. There is a really innovative game somewhere in here -- I just hope you can find it amidst all of these overshadowing bugs.
