Other than the stingy player limit per multiplayer game, and the inability to finish a game without post-game chat, SWAT 3: ELITE EDITION is COB gaming at its finest, With realistic ballistics, tactics, editing tools, and added multiplayer game features, SWAT 3 challenges ROGUE SPEAR as the definitive tactical simulation game. So beg, borrow, or buy this game... just don’t steal it, or you’re liable to be on the wrong end of yet another SWAT sortie.

Elite Edition is a worthy addition to any tactical action fan's collection, unless of course you own the original SWAT3 already. If that's the case, hop over to the SWAT3 website and you can download the additional portions in Elite Edition for free! With the inclusion of a Software Development Kit in the package, the door is also wide open for user modifications and new missions for the game, which should extend SWAT3's life for the foreseeable future. I couldn't recommend your acquisition of this game any more.
While it has a bit of a learning curve, SWAT 3: Elite Edition is a great game in the tactical action genre. You’ll find yourself immersed in the environment, jumping at every sound and move, and fighting to keep everyone cool. It’s a great game, if a bit short, and certainly a must-have for any fan of the genre. Neutralizing a suspect has never been so real... and please, please don’t take that as a suggestion to make it really real. The visceral entertainment of SWAT 3 should quell your urges.
SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle changed the face of the first-person tactical genre, and the Elite Edition polishes it to a near mirror shine. Sierra Studios is to be commended for making this add-on available free of charge to owners of the original game, something that many publishers may not have done. The thrill of multiplayer engagements coupled with plenty of other new material makes this a compelling package for both veteran and rookie SWAT team leaders. If you own SWAT 3, download the Elite Edition. If you missed it the first time around, pick up the Elite Edition standalone, and get down to some serving and protecting.

There's nothing much to be disappointed with in SWAT3. The fixes, and additions have added to the game's goodness, and its multiplayer mode is top-notch. The voice acting is well done, although some of the foreign accents seem contrived. And, did I mention ALL registered owners of SWAT3 can download this baby for free? Now that's a bargain. As its only real blemish, it is too bad that it took so long for Sierra to feed its multiplayer aspect to the hungry gaming public. It would also have been nice to include a healthier number of maps, rather than just the few Sierra did. Oh, well, what more can you ask for in a free upgrade? Happy gaming.

When the smoke clears and the press shows up at the scene, this is what SWAT 3 should have been a year ago. The addition of multiplayer really adds a whole other dimension to the gaming experience. The single-player has been tweaked nicely to address some of the issues gamers had from the original. To top it off, owners of the original SWAT 3 won't even have to shell out a single penny to reap the benefits of the Elite Edition. Some might say this upgrade came a little late, but better late than never.
