Tap-Repeatedly/Four Fat Chicks
Back in the last century (1998, to be precise), a small group of very creative developers put their minds to the idea of an interactive motion picture. Of course, being located in Oregon, where dreary weather encourages indoor activity, may have helped not only with the game-making process itself but also with the generally dark theme of their product.

Just Adventure
Tender Loving Care is not a typical adventure game; in fact, Aftermath Media is not even categorizing it as a graphic adventure. Instead, it is considered an "interactive movie" similar to Phantasmagoria but with a design twist. It is definitely original, and we felt it deserved a fair review on our site. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and an added bonus, and a credit to the designers, is that it is replayable--there are many paths to the end and a few different endings. I must say that I did not try the other solutions, but have talked to people who have, and they are all unique and thrilling. If you are tired of the run-of-the-mill adventure games produced this year, you will most definitely want to give Tender Loving Care a chance.

It took us something like five or six hours to get through the game, but, as much as we enjoyed it, we feel no great desire to see the alternative endings. It goes without saying that £40 for six hours entertainment is not a particularly good deal. But if you see it for £20 or so, it might well be worth a look. It's not a gamer's game, true, but definitely one for pervies, amateur psychologists and - let's cover ourselves here - those who are looking for something a little different.

Electric Games
It is different from most games in that there is no way to win or lose or even get stuck. It really is an interactive movie rather than a game. There are a few technical problems that should have been cleaned up, but ultimately TLC is worth taking a look at. The characters are interesting and the psychological aspects of the plot are intriguing. Most of the story will not change, but there are a number of endings. I do wish there were a way to see all the endings without having to replay the game guessing at the proper combination of answers to the questions. Bottom Line: Good story, excellent acting. You don't have enough input into the game to change the story, only the ending. This is not a game in the traditional sense - you may only explore the environment, not change it. A few technical problems exist that are more frustrating than anything else. TLC is not a reason to go out and buy a DVD-ROM player, but if you already have one it is worth a look.

PC Gameplay (Benelux)

Quandary
A game is not bad simply because it is the same as many others. Nor is a game good simply because it is different from all the rest. However, if variety truly is the spice of life, then being different has an inherent value, and Tender Loving Care is certainly different. How much its inherent value is worth though will very much be a matter of taste.

Just Adventure
Therefore, the only way I could find out how my responses affected the story was to slog through all sixteen of those episodes again. And, brother, that ain't gonna happen. It's a decent movie, but Lawrence of Arabia it ain't. So the makers of TLC have attempted to create an interactive movie with true replay value and, in my opinion, failed--because what's replay value without a desire to replay? For the record, every ending I heard about was dark and depressing.

Game Revolution
This game, if you could even call it a game, once asked me if I had bowel problems. It showed me fuzzy, blurry sex. It showed and asked me many more weird things, but that's just it -- you're simply shown things, and you're never really an active player in it all. You don't need to buy this -- if you want this flavor, go watch a made for TV movie, then go read some Freud. As a movie, it was average; just interesting enough to force myself through all the inane questions. As a game, it wasn't even close to the "live out your fantasy" experience that was promised. Stay away from this scrub of a game.
