Summary
Not the best example of a racing simulation.
The Good
The best thing about this game is its graphics - especially the backgrounds. There are different locations, and each one has its own atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the wonderful village with lots of snow - I forgot now where exactly it was...
The Bad
But apart from graphics, there isn't really much to like about the game. after just a couple of hours, it gets boring. You can race only against other cars - actually, there IS a modus where you're driving in a city with traffic, but it's just ridiculous and absolutely unrealistic. The car-crashes are horribly made: the car just flies to the air, and then is suddenly on the ground again! Who has ever seen such a thing? When you have an accident, it just doesn't feel like an accident! For some reason, you can't fall down off a mountain - why? The overall feeling is that of playing a computer game, not of driving. You have no sense of speed whatsoever - it's very difficult to control and quite unrealistic.
The Bottom Line
I really prefer Test Drive II.
