REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – February 26, 2002 – Golf for the PC has never looked this realistic as golfers and video game fans alike will see in the new Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2002 from EA (Nasdaq: ERTS), available today. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2002 was developed by Headgate Studios’ and brings golf to life on the computer in a completely 3-D world with a brand new course lineup.
With the exclusive license of Pebble Beach Golf Links®, Poppy Hills and Spyglass, gamers get to play on the most elite Monterey Peninsula courses in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2002 as well as the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass and Royal Birkdale Golf Club in England. Golf announcers David Feherty and Bill Macatee add real tournament pressure with their commentary on each round. Gamers compete as or against 12 of the best PGA TOUR golfers such as Tiger Woods, Notah Begay III, Vijay Singh, Colin Montgomerie and Jesper Parnevik with TrueSwing Technology, a real-time swing that brings a true golf swing to the computer mouse. Also compete as or against Feherty and Macatee as well as six amateur models, three female and three male.
Gamers will feel as if they are on the actual golf course with the Caddy Book option, giving players all information necessary to make the best possible shot. There are also all new game modes including Skills Competition, TOUR Challenge, Best-Ball, team matches and a scramble mode. During tournament play, galleries stand outside the ropes to cheer and jeer all plays on the green.
