Summary

Incredible stealth shooter

The Good

This game had some great maps and interesting mission variations. Although, primarily a hostage rescue game, Rainbow Six has some incredible counterintelligence levels that promote stealth and avoidance rather than shooting everyone up. The graphics and sound were fitting and the pre-game planning stage ended up being one of the best parts. The add-on provided great real-world locations as well.

The Bad

There are serious problems with the artificial intelligence. Enemies don't respond to being shot at and they don't respond to seeing their partners shot. The AI for the teams is worse. Rather than going for cover when they are under fire, your team mates stay in formation. Also should the lead team member die, the next in line will blunder into the same trap. I highly recommend taking control of breaching sequences too. If you let the computer throw a grenade your team will die. Also walking up ladders and turning corners can be horrendous.

The Bottom Line

All said and done, Rainbow Six is one of the best games ever made. There are no crates full of weapons of BFG's to be found. This is probably one of the most realistic games ever made.
