Beyond being a great skateboarding game or a great sports game, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 is a fun, addictive, challenging, enjoyable game in general. With so many different ways to play, tons of secrets to uncover, great graphics, a rocking soundtrack, and the ability to create your own skater and skate park, THPS2 is a high water mark for all 3D accelerated titles. With just a few extra multiplayer modes for a single PC, THPS2 would have hit right below 100, but as it is, it still ranks as an awesome 97.

Overall, the game is almost near perfect. Only small flaws and nuisances take away from the game. The high flying no holds barred action is more than enough to make up for any problems the game might have. If you buy one game this Christmas season...Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 better be on that list.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 to bezapelacyjnie najlepsza część serii. Dalej było bardzo dobrze, ale wielu graczy z sentymentem powraca właśnie do tej odsłony. Z pewnością atutami gry jest jej oryginalność, świeżość, fajowy tryb rozgrywki, nieziemska grywalność, kapitalna muzyka i bardzo ciekawy multiplayer. Na minus w chwili premiery zapisać nie można było absolutnie niczego. A dziś? Cóż, tylko i wyłącznie grafika. Zagrajcie w Tonego koniecznie, jeśli jeszcze tego nie zrobiliście!

This game is as close as it comes to perfection on the consoles, but it's pretty obvious that PC was never the focus for this title. It's a minimal port of the game, which would be annoying if it wasn't for the tiny fact that it still just happens to be one of the greatest game experiences you'll ever have*. It's bittersweet, because while we should all be happy that Activision even ported this to the PC in the first place, it would have been nice to have seen some tweaking to make it shine on the PC, just as with the Dreamcast version. One especially nice addition, though -- it's great that Activision opted to include some of the tracks from TH1, since most PC gamers haven't had a chance to experience the first game. Thanks, big corporation. We appreciate the ability to manual on the Phoenix downhill park.

So, if you need a relaxing game, something quick and attractive, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is your ideal solution. If you love skateboarding, kkhhhm, I think you know what to do. And even if you're not into skating, you are sure to love Pro Skater 2. Just don't get too hooked on it... you already are? Well, then just don't try doing some of the tricks in your living room, dammit!

Für Tony Hawk 2 macht sogar ein Sportspiel-Muffel wie ich eine Ausnahme. Nach dem glänzenden Vorgänger war ich besonders gespannt auf Tonys ersten PC-Auftritt. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Konvertierungen hat das Spiel den Plattform-Sprung sehr gut überstanden. Nur manche Menüs und der umständliche, auf Joypads ausgelegte Editor erinnern noch an die Konsolen-Herkunft. Gar nicht genug loben kann ich die Musik im Spiel. Zusammen mit dem rasanten Spielablauf bringt der Soundtrack den Adrenalinspiegel in ungeahnte Höhen. Motiviert strebe ich immer wieder nach neuen Kombinations-Rekorden und klebe förmlich am Joypad. Dieses Stück Hardware ist übrigens unbedingt nötig, um das Spiel voll genießen zu können.

Auch auf dem PC schafft es Tony Hawks spielend, die momentan noch spärliche Konkurrenz an die Wand zu fahren und sich im Bereich Fun-Sport einen Ehrenplatz in der Galerie zu ergattern. Ausgefeilte Steuerung, anspruchsvolle Level, klasse Musik, Secrets ohne Ende und nicht zuletzt der Editor sorgen für ein langes, verletzungsfreies Skateboard-Vergnügen, nicht nur für Freaks.

For the real hardcore addicts, who can’t just get enough of it, there's still the possibility to create your own level. You can even share them with other players via the super information highway on the various fan sites. Now go forth and Skate!!! May gods speed be with ya'll!!!

It may not be the best-looking PC game available, but Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 has a solid look and a level of replay value that's unmatched by any game of its type. The career mode will keep pulling you back as you try to unlock every park, but later on you'll find yourself trying to find all the secret items and attempting to complete all the objectives for each stage. It's also fun to go into the single session or free-skate mode just to see what kind of trick combinations you can string together. There can be a steep learning curve if you're not willing to take the time to understand how different tricks function and how they're landed, but this can be overcome quickly with a few free-skate sessions in the first park.

Dit spel tilt het subgenre van de extreme sportspellen enorm de hoogte in met zijn career mode, park editor en zijn replay value die je voor vele uren aan de monitor gekluisterd houdt.

Après avoir attendu tout ce temps, les amateurs de skate ont enfin droit à leur titre, et non des moindres, puisque Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 devrait faire date dans l'histoire des jeux de sports de glisse. Ce soft est en effet une mine à de nombreux points de vue alliant un gameplay du tonnerre à une réalisation impeccable.

The PC version is only a port of the PlayStation game, and nothing more. The addition of features to take advantage of the PC is limited at best, and the game really could have been special with the addition of PC-like graphics, enhanced (existent?) multiplayer, and the ability to create larger and more complex parks. Trust me, Tony Hawk 2 should not be missed, but it is not the PC game that everyone wanted it to be.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 ist in vielen Bereichen seinem Vorgänger absolut überlegen. Das Gameplay wurde stark verfeinert, der Manual ist eine sehr gelungene Neuerung und durch den Skatepark und die vielen Sachen zum freischalten ist man sehr lange mit diesem motivierenden Spiel beschäftigt.

If you have even a remote interest in skateboarding, get this game. If you don't, you will after going a few rounds on this all-out skating frenzy. The producers of THPS 2 (Activision and Neversoft) obviously went through a lot of time and effort to make this game a realistic skating extravaganza…it has definitely paid off for them (and us as well!). Activision has created a rock-solid gaming experience with superior graphics, music and playability. This is not a game that will be turned into a coaster, used for skeet shooting, or gathering dust motes in a remote corner of my office. It will be played and enjoyed -isn't that the mark of a truly successful game? You be the judge.

Extrem- und Fun-Sportarten bürgen traditionell für grottig schlechte Computerspiele. Doch Tony Hawk's Pro Skater gilt zurecht als einsame Lichtgestalt. Die vielen versteckten Extras in den Levels machen das Programm zum reinsten Skateboard-Adventure. Bei der Steuerung habe ich allerdings das dumpfe Gefühl, dass mehr drin steckt, als ich jemals rausholen werde. Die höheren Kombo-Wellen erschließen sich nur mit Gamepad, perfektem Timing und Fingerverknotungs-Bereitschaft. Wenn man (von der mickrigen Anleitung im Stich gelassen) ewig im ersten Level festhängt, hält sich der Spaß in Grenzen. Wer aber genug Geduld und Geschick aufbringt, bekommt eine erfrischende, erstaunlich tiefgründige Sportspiel-Alternative geboten.

Jag vet inte varför jag får recensera alla skatespel som dyker upp på redaktionen. Jag som aldrig stått på en skateboard i hela mitt liv (och tur är väl det). Men jag ska inte klaga. Inte om alla skatespel är i samma klass som THPS2.

Однако, как ни крути, на одной атмосфере, физике выше среднего и анимации персонажа слишком далеко не уедешь. Даже на доске. Но удовольствие от расслабленных катаний — гарантировано. А если надоест кататься в одиночку, — есть три режима сетевого мультиплеера (в том числе и известная "лошадь", когда один скейтер пытается повторить трики другого). Кушайте на здоровье.

Tony Hawk 2 offre au PC ce qui se fait de mieux en matière de jeu de skateboard. Les graphismes sont fins et adaptés au PC et la durée de vie est vraiment très élevée. Le nombre de figures est impressionnant et l'éditeur de skate park un petit bijou. La difficulté est pourtant un peu trop élevée pour les joueurs qui ne se sont pas fait les dents sur le premier Tony Hawk sur PlayStation ou Dreamcast. Cependant, pour les fans du genre, professionnels du trick et accro de la manette, ce jeu pourrait bien être le meilleur qu'ils aient jamais vu.
