DescriptionTrace Vector is a high speed action game with vector style graphics similar to those of 80's arcade games. There are two game modes: Adventure and Endless. Adventure consists of twelve environments split up in six consecutive levels each. The goal of each level is to reach the green goal by controlling a dot that moves over a vector line automatically, without running out of fuel. There is also a story behind the game about a man in a space ship called Jason who tries to find his way back home. After completing an environment the next one is unlocked and a short story sequence is shown, often with an optional mini-game of Breakout.
Each levels consists of a series of branching white lines. By pressing up and down, the direction to travel at the next junction can be chosen. Dead ends with red icons need to be avoided or the level restarts and some amount of fuel is lost. Moving over the line consumes fuel from the meter at the bottom of the screen. Fuel for the next level can be restocked by finding paths that contain fuel cells. When a level is completed, the meter is refilled based on the amount of collected fuel cells. Other game elements are portals and bright parts that increase speed. To complete an environment all of its six levels need to be completed in one go as fuel is shared over the levels. Optionally the space bar can be pressed to slow down the action and zoom in, but this burns through a lot of fuel at once. The endless mode is similar, but consists of a single, large level. At certain intervals the speed is increased until the player makes a mistake. After completing all levels an expert mode is unlocked with mirrored levels.
