As a ghosted time-trial racer where collisions are non-existent, the struggle is internal and the other racers are members of an audience you perform for, there to silently goad and encourage you into going further. The warmth of the game comes from a community effort, huddling together as the season turns cold, in order to see everyone realise their own potential. That's something in danger of being lost in an online world of tea-bagging, one-upmanship and rabid abuse - and it's something worth staying in for as the evenings draw in.
Trackmania 2: Canyon is altogether a package that manages to add to and improve the recipe, without making the resulting taste so different that I want to spit it out. In fact, it tastes a whole lot nicer. It’s an amazing racer, that anybody can pick up and enjoy. You can also spend hours upon hours perfecting every track, achieving lap times that others deem impossible. When you jump into a server with a group of friends, there is simply no other racing game available that can provide such an exciting and enjoyable experience. Add in an endless supply of user-generated content, and you’ve got something that’ll last for years to come.
There’s a moment that transpires while playing TrackMania 2: Canyon. You’ll be sitting there getting irritated by its poorly designed menu system, frustrated when trying to figure out how to race against your friends and use other touted features. Then all the sudden, you’re having the unblinking time of your life without really knowing what changed. It may play the sound of screeching tires on dirt roads, but TrackMania 2 is the clearest example of sticking with a simple idea, making it infinitely replayable, and most importantly, supremely enjoyable.

TrackMania 2: Canyon builds on the series' basic but aggressively addictive racing formula without hamstringing its newcomer-friendliness or sacrificing the over-the-top vibe of its zany track designs.Highly recommended for fans of adrenaline racing.
