Just Adventure
Despite the flaws I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and will probably play it again. It is one of the most interesting games I've played, not merely action nor adventure. Though flawed, it added a dimension of realism not seen in most action games.

Etwa in Form äußerst beschränkter Grafik.

The game itself is played out at quite a leisurely pace, although when the velociraptors appear it becomes quite frightening, especially as your gun waves about in front of your face when trying to aim the damn thing. Graphically the game is quite impressive, especially the dinosaurs' animation. However, even our office P233s with 64Mb RAM and a 3Dfx card regularly chugged when things got busy. But try it. If you can live with the inadequacies, then you're sure to find the full game more than enjoyable. Especially with our hero sporting a nice set of bristols.

Unfortunately, despite the advanced physics and gorgeous graphics engine, Trespasser falls far short of its expectations. Though the engine can look damn good, it will only be experienced by those with kick-ass systems...and even they're in for some slow-down. The physics and sound engines are very admirable - if only the gameplay had been up to par. In the end, if you've got a really monster system (and I'm talking REALLY kick-ass), you might want to take a look.

I admit the premise is admirealbe to create a virtual world where you can do anything that is possible in real life sounds intrigueing. Dreamworks did not create that world. Do not waste your time and money on tresspasser it is a very underdeveloped game.

The more I explored, the more I just got frustrated with the poor game design. It's easy to tag the new physics model and great skeletal animation system as "revolutionary", but in my opinion Trespasser is a step back in nearly every imaginable way.

Just Adventure
Our final analysis may disappoint many, but we have to believe that, due to the bad control and the pixelation, that this island simply does not exist. The dinosaurs in Anne's diary were simply a delusion of a mind gone mad. Maybe someday there will be such an adventure and then this will be looked upon as the groundbreaker, but it will take better machinery than many of us now have to derive any satisfaction in this lost world. If we were to assign a grade to this entire sordid story, it would have to be a C.

Computer Games Magazine
The team creating the game obviously is talented, but their talent has been misdirected. Real-world physics enhance any game, but they aren't by themselves a game. This fallacy permeates every line of code that went into the crafting Trespasser, that somehow a more realistic world makes for a better one. The game ends up falling somewhere between being one of the most innovative and unique game experiences realized on a PC and one of the most gratuitous examples of technological masturbation ever fostered upon the gaming community. Ultimately, it's merely the finest box stacking simulation ever created, but not much of a game.

think I would really enjoy this kind of realistic adventure if it worked as advertised, and it's probably worth remaking (though it kinda-sorta was to better effect with 2001's Operation Flashpoint). Trespasser had some good ideas, but suffered from trying to do too many of them, too soon. The physics system as it related to your character wasn't quite where it needed to be, 3-D technology was still a little too ugly, and the hand interface could have used some intuitive and user-friendly adjustments. Still, most of its ideas - especially the proliferation of gameplay-related physics - have been used with more success in modern games, so they were on the right track. Worth checking out if you're interested in the evolution of technology, but that's all it really is. The game underneath is neither supported well by its technology, or enjoyable enough to play despite its flaws.
